Second year burning wood pellets with a Breckwell Big-E. Used Green Supreme, hardwood-softwood mix an thought it was working great. Used 3 tons so far this year. Needed 20 more bags to finish the season and bought "Maine's Choice 100% hardwood". With the same stove settings, I used an infrared heat detector and measured heat output at the same spot, and got 12 degrees more heat output with Maine's Choice pellets. Don't know how much these will produce, but with Green Supreme, from Home Depot, I filled my 3 gallon vac 3 times. I have tried other brands but have no date to share. My observation between other brands is the Maine's Choice if the best value and heat output.

May be maines choice, but certainly not my choice. Pellets threw off decent heat but burned way too fast. 1 bag barely lasted 10 hours. I would not recommend this pellet.

I have two Heatilator eco choice pellet stoves to heat my colonial. I used Maine's choice this year, and just bought 5 more tons for next. I noticed (even as cold as it has been) that the rate I am using pellets with Maine's choice is slower, compared to Homestead. As far as cleaning pellet stoves.....this isn't oil/gas heating, like a wood stove you have to clean them! I just clean mine every week its become routine. No wood product is ever going to be exactly the same. I used a wood stove for years, wood was always different year to year. Ultimately I choose to support a Maine owned company over being able to skip stove cleaning.

Maine Choice: 2 tons from Home Depot in October. Outdoor storage there. We had 2 6 inch rains in the early fall. The pellets would not burn long, needed to clean the stove 2 times a day. Clinkers. No relight. Took em back after struggling through 10 bags. Quadrafire Castile 3rd season. Replaced with one ton of the Athens from WM. Still outdoor storage there, but my ton was stacked on top of another. Even so, the last few bags have been a problem even stored on a wood floor above concrete. Trying some Penningtons...Athens is out of stock at local WM.

2nd year in Harmon P61 - these work pretty well. Ash is moderate, heat is fine, though not spectacular. Very convenient to be able to buy at local Walmarts.

Tried 4 bags of these as a test. Very cold outside and pellet did not burn very hot. Ash was ok, but heat was barely adequate for the price. I would use again if I'm out of pellets and no other choice.

Having used a variety of pellets over the past 5 years I have found that the Maine's Choice pellet presented me with an unusual high ash content requiring daily removal. Purchased 3 tons ( From Lowe's )based on mfg choice of production materials, hardwood, as stated on the packaging, but I suspect that there is a mixture of other materials within or poor quality of hardwood. Not my choice of pellet in the future.

Been using Harmon Accentra for about 5 years. Great stove. Bought a ton of Maines choice premium wood pellets. Worst pellets in five years. Large creosote build up. Went from cleaning every four weeks to every two. Lots of ash, lots of linkers, just a mess. Will not buy again. Wanted to keep my business to a local manufacturer but I can not with this product.
