I bought two tons from Wal-Mart and will NEVER burn them again. Tons of ash and Klinkers. I am going back to Turman's I just order three tons from Perkins. Stay away from these pellets.

Had 1 1/2 tons of Cleanfire Hardwood (couldn't find Maine's Choice last season) left over from last season and ordered 3 tons of Maine's Choice from Lowe's for this season $209 per ton. Burned about 20 bags of these a couple years back and found them to be as good as either Cleanfire softwood or hardwood in my Quadrafire Castille. Just started burning the new pellets a couple of weeks ago and still find them as I did two years ago. Good heat and value for the money.
Put a Heatilator Eco Choice down in the basement this fall and heating down there as well now. Now heating 3500 sq ft of space. Will possibly need to get another ton for the heating season with the addition of the new stove.
Purchased 20 bags of Green Supreme's from Lowe's today to give them a try.
p.s. Harman, Quadrafire & Heatilator all made by Hearth & Home with Heatilator being the economy end of the line.

I burned a ton of Maine's Choice pellets last year in my Upland 207 Pellet Stove. They were not readily available locally this year. I would buy them again at a competitive price.

I generally prefer a softwood pellet or a mix. However, the Maine's Choice did have an acceptable flame and better than average ash content (low).

I especially liked that all of the pellets were in neighborhood of 1/2" to 3/4" long. I believe that this length to diameter ratio yields a nice consistent feed rate with minimal resistance to the auger.

The moose on the bag are memorable. If I see them, I will look into buying them again.

worst pellets to date. will not buy again. had to mix with another pellet brand just to get rid of the ton i had. tried because of the reviews read here and the price. Ash was horrible, not what was listed on bag. black soot. didnt like the smell. Too strong. also length of pellet too long . i can see why some had auger problems. used in harmon pb105 pellet boiler

I purchased 3 tons of Maine's Choice pellets from Lowes in Rochester NH and have been very pleased. Good heat, not a lot of ash, and no clinker build up. Be sure you are getting the 100% hardwood pellets... not the mixed pellets as another poster mentioned. I've burned Pennington (not good) and Cleanfire Hardwood (pretty darn good) and would put these just a notch below the Cleanfire.. but at 20-25% less expensive its worth the switch.
Harman P68. 5 years of using pellet stove as primary heat.

I want to give an update on Maine's Choice which I gave an unfavorable review last year. It turns out that Maine's Choice makes 2 different versions of their pellets. The one that I reviewed last year was a hardwood softwood blend which was horrible. The one that I tried this year was a 100% hardwood pellet. They both come in a bag that looks identical, so you need to read the bag. The hardwood pellets burn much hotter, not much ash, and no clinkers. I find that these pellets are similar to Greene Team. These are both available at Lowe's. I have a St Croix York insert.

I have a Harman P43 and am a first year user. I bought 8 bags of Maine's Choice and used 7 1/2. Heat output was okay. Lots of ash and I found there was a lot of carbon buildup in the burnpot that took some effort to chip out. I scrape every day and clean every week.

We bought these pellets at the end of our burning year in 2012, and they were horrible. The ash was so high we couldn't even go 5 days without having to empty the ash bin. And, they never got the room as hot as the Barefoot pellets we'd used for most of the season.

First season wtih a Timberwolf (Napolean)TPS35 stove, been throwing everything I can find in it. I vacuum sift all bags before they ever enter the hopper so fines are not an issue for me but let me say after sifting 10 bags or so of these I need to bang out the vac filter! Even when dumping the bag into the vac bowl dust goes eveywhere. They produce about 250 degrees (usually less) and a TON of ash. Friends of mine swear by em, must be stove preferance. Although in 2 years one friend had to replace his Harman auger twice? Fines perhaps. They are the cheapest I could find in my area (Eastern MA) $209-219 a ton.

We have 2 Harman stoves (Invicta and Accentra) - the pellets have been burning fine. So far gone thru 2 of the 4 tons I bought for our "all electric" house. The pellets have very little dust and are very conistent in their burn rate. At the Lowes price, they cannot be beat! At a higher price, the would still be a bargain.
