These are horrible. Got a Lennox stove and used these pellets for first ton. Thought the stove was the problem because the ash would clog up within 12 hours. Hated my stove but suffered through it. Got a ton of another brand just because it was more convenient all of a sudden I could burn for 48 hours before the ash build up was too much. Just finished that ton and bought a couple of bags of fireside to hold me over and back to the 12 hour hassle. Steer clear.Report
I just purchased 3 bags of Fireside from homedepot and I cannot believe the amount of heat I am getting from these pellets. I have tried several brands and by far fireside is the best I have ever used. I got the fireside pellets 2 days ago and when I got them they said they had just gotten in 20 tons and today I called and they are totally out of them. 20 tons sold in 2 days. I guess alot of other people like them also and they have no idea when they will be getting anymore in.Report
i've tried a few pellets in my Harmon xxv now and these seem to burn very well. low ash, no clogging what-so-ever, and they have been burning slowing than the others that I tried.Report
I own a countrystove mp40
After6 yrs of using a premium pellet product out of N.H i decided to pay less and buy at home depot. Worst mistake of my life as far as pellets go . The countrystove is one of the best stoves on the market and my auger got clogged evry 3 days using the fireside pellets. I switched back to a different brand and have had no problem in the last 3 months. If any one is interested in these inferior pellets please don't make the same mistake i did
I have an Englander pellet stove. just switched this season from 2 tempwood wood stoves, they are definately the most efficient wood stoves out there. 2 cords of wood to 1 bucket of ash. So when I purchased the Englander stove , I bought 2 tons of Fireside Ultra pellets. Of course i was a newbie to wood pellets and was not sure how many to buy. When I got down to 25 bags I started searching for that brand of pellets. Unfortunately home depot had none of that brand so I tried another brand. God I had no clue how good the Fireside brand was till I used another brand. the ash that the other brand produced was rediculous, so I tried a few bags of another brand. Still the same high ash. Went to a local stove shop and yes the same happened with there (super terific pellets).
I wish I could find a supplier some where in Massachusetts with the Fireside brand to finish out the season.
Next year if available from Home Depot or any other store, I will buy 4 tons.
Rather have left overs than run out again.
And if anyone has any suggestions to find this brand please suggest where to go.
I've. Burned 4 tons of freedom fuel from Home Depot they require a lot of raking and produce a lot of ash and clog the augers. I'm on my very first bag of Fireside and like I better I previously used Pennington 6 tons not one clog and a dixie cup of ash per bag I have 2 englanders one at each end of house in NH Below freeze temp most of the timeReport
