Been burning pellets for over 20 years in a Harmon P61. Have burned all kinds of pellets. From crap to real good quality. Even crap that is supposed to be good quality, sadly
I'm picky about what i burn. My regular supplier came up short this year and couldn't deliver on what I wanted so now I'm on to secondary sources. Most box stores in my area carry Green Supreme, which is bottom of the barrel. But I happened to notice the Marlborough MA HD is carrying Fireside Ultras. The sister brand to Energex. I've burned small amounts of Fireside's in the past and they were not horrible. I picked up three bags to test burn last week and they burned well. Average ash in the burn pot. (far less than Admin review in August - was able to go 8 hours before needing to rake) Smoked the glass a bit, but not bad. Burned like a softwood/hardwood blend, which is what they are supposed to be. Clinkers were average. Far better than box most store junk, not as good as my first choice, but very very respectable. I had one other option for pellets that i ended up going with, but I could easily live with these. If you are picky about what you burn these are a solid second string. Maybe even a first choice.
Unfortunately pellet quality within brands changes often. So this review is based on what I tested on Nov 2017.
Running the englander for 1500 sq. ft house and these are the hottest burning pellets I've ever put in. We've had the stove three seasons now. Only on the setting of 1 and this stove is keeping the house really warm. It's been down in the low 20's already and we've been keeping the house in the mid 70's with no problems. I especially like the way the company packages the units: three layers of polyethylene with cardboard on the top of the two inner layers. I haven't seen any quality issues yet.Report
I have a Lopi & a King.
I'm very unhappy with the quality of these pellets. Every bag so far has a significant amount of pellets that are smashed & nothing but dust. It keeps the pellets from feeding properly down the augers.
There's also a lot of ash. I bought 4 ton, & I'm finding this in the first ton. I'm sorry I bought these pellets. There's no cintact phone number on the bag, to even call & let them know. The website on the bag is not good either. I bought these at Home Depot. Very displeased with these pellets.
I have a Castle Pellet Stove, I've been burning for many years, have tried virtually every pellet manufacturer out there. Although they all claim to have low ash, I have never seen a difference in their ash until I have recently discovered Fireside Pellets. there has been a significant difference in low ash with this company than I have ever seen in others. I also have noticed a huge difference in the high heat output of these pellets. I especially like the smaller pellet size, it wont clog the auger. I hope this company can Maintain this quality pellet, It is now my Pellets of choice.Report
I purchased three tons of Fireside pellets from Home Depot in Lebanon, NH this season and have not been overly happy with them. I have a lot more ash than previous years and they don't burn as clean as other brands I've used. I had a few bags of Blazers left from last season that I put in to compare the burn (to make sure it wasn't my stove) and the Blazers burned far better than the Firesides did.
Not impressed with how the Fireside pellets were palatalized this year either, they were not as well protected from the elements as they have been in years past. Many of the bags were wet including bags in the center of the pallet. I'm not sure I'll buy these again.
I want to register as a preffered customer to get emails and offers.etc.love these pellets they are the best!Report
fireside wood pellets are they soft or hard woodReport
I been using mostly Fireside Ultra pellets that Home Depot carries. The seller must keep them under cover so they stay dry.I don't care what brand you use pellets.I use 6 tons a season and I've tried most all of them.Tractor Supply keeps the pallets of pellets outside covers with the shipping plastic. I 've returned several bags each heating season when Home depot sells out. They tell me the store sells
a tractor trailer truck a day during heating season.
I have been a happy customer for a few years buying and burning the
Fireside pellets. In March 2016 I ran out of the four tons of pellets I purchased last year. A local HD store in NH had the pellets up for sale this season so I purchased 5 more tons. I have received 1 ton and opened a bag and I was very upset to see how black and burned they looked. Not nice and tan like they have been. Every bag I opened. I burned them a week and I am now a unhappy customer. At this point I am waiting for the other 4 pallets to be delivered. I am HOPING that the other 4 tons are not BURNT. If they are I will not be purchasing these pellets again.
I have a harman p43. These pellets are great! Get the at HD at end if season for a good discount. Other brands they sell dont compare. Low ash good heat, and about 50 bucks cheaper per ton than most other brands.Report
