Additional Info

  • Admin Review: Nov: 2017 - So these pellets have a mixed review........The bag was not a 40lb bag but rather smaller. I'm not sure if I received an "export" bag but non the less. The bag seems to have also changed... totally... from the good old 'trump bag" with a flag and all, to one that is less patriotic. These pellets absolutely did burn super hot. They seemed to be super dense with not much fines. I want to say that these are a southern yellow pine pellet. I could not find much info on online except to find out what the deal is. I had to clear out the burnpot in the morning but the heat was was nice! great pellet overall .

Bought Freedom Fuel Pellets from Tractor Supply and they smell like OSB wood. Very strong formaldehyde smell to them. Has anyone else noticed this about them? My stove is a Rika Integra II insert. I always have used Turman Hardwood pellets and never smelled this chemical smell.

Bought 2 tons of Freedom Fuel "premium grade" pellets from our local Tractor Supply. Was hesitant as we never used this brand before but decided to try it. Ash is probably double than our normal brand, but even worse VERY LARGE clumps of pellets that are swelled up and or disintegrating, like a chunk of concrete in SEVERAL bags! We didn't notice until we unloaded them in our covered storage building, so took 12-15 bags back to the store immediately, and still finding these large clumps in several more bags! The clumps are extremely large anywhere from the size of a golf ball up to chunks larger than a foot and half long! Since we live 20+ miles away, not able to take each bag back every time we find one which is several times a week. today 2 large chunks in 2 different bags (2 for 2). Won't be buying these again. Stick with what you know to be good, mark this brand off your list.

Not Happy! Bought 2 Tons from HD. Each pallet was bagged different No Hood, While storing them in my garage the bags were breaking at the seams. The Spec on the bags DO NOT match there web site. They burn inconsistent, High ash, soot, and cleaning my stove every 3 days ( Avalon Astoria ). I questions their spec with the Manufacture and their response was they only make super premium, not premium, yet the spec on the bags is premium. They also hang up in the hooper and leave a residue that I never had with other brands. The bottom line is Don't Buy Them!

I bought a ton of Freedom Fuel pellets from tractor supply in Oct 2014 . So far I used about 35 bags I have found arounf 6 large pieces od wood in bags. The other day my auger was bound up ,I had to take the stove apart and found what looks to be a large rock (about the size of a quater) in the auger. I WILL NEVER BY THESE PELLETS AGAIN!

Got 5 bags at Tractor Supply last spring when everyone else was out of supply. All 5 bags had a large number of broken pellets, and some even looked as though they'd been exposed to water/leakage. Won't be trying these again.

I bought these at the local TSC and they burn hot but on the downside do produce a lot of ash and require cleaning a little more often than normal.

This is a follow up of a previous post I made concerning Freedom Pellets. I just want to say my bad experience with freedom pellets was made good by the seller. I told them of my experience and they made it right. The factory had a problem in the production of said pellets and they made it right with their dealers. Now that's good business and I'll be buying Freedom Pellets in the future.Thank you Freedom Pellets.

Bought 10 bags at Lowes in Hatfield, PA. They have a larger diameter than other pellets. Also, the fines are more like chunks. They burn pretty hot and clean. Pretty happy so far. On the downside, the bags are really thin and they smell like old barn wood.

Update on the next couple bags :

Last 2 bags have been in much better shape. Not a lot of dust/fines like the first bag and mostly whole pellets. I wish I had taken a picture of the first bag, hard to believe what came out of it. I am guessing the first bag I opened had some issues (ran over by a steam roller or feel off a 100 floor building) They do seem to give off pretty good heat and ash seems to be about the same as all other pellets so far this year. At this point I would not have any issues buying more in the even I could not find my normal local brands. I do notice a stronger then normal smokey/wood smell when the stove first starts. Outside you can smell it better..

My stove is a Harman Advance. Just over one year old now.
