Just bought my first bags of this at Lowes. The label says they have Soy oil so I'm wondering if that's where the sooty nature comes from. My Quadrafire Mt Vernon manual warns not to use pellets with soy oil. A friend with the same stove says they burn great in it. We will see...Report
Green supreme with 10% off coupon $192 a ton delivered. Great deal. I have had a pellet stove for almost 20 yrs and while it is true some a worse than others the key to getting the most out of your stove is clean in after every ton burned and keep it running. A hot burn pot will keep poor quality pellet issues to a minimumReport
I have owned an astoria bay avalon stove for 4 years now and i have burned many brands of pellets even the ones from the large box stores and this by far was the worst pellet EVER! I got stuck with 3 tons last winter and I still have 6 bags left that will never see the inside of my stove. woodPellets.com tried to blame it on my stove but the truth is it's an inferior pellet. it had verry low BTU output, loads of black sooty ash and left brown and black creosote like resin on the stoves glass. I dread to think what the fluepipe looks like. I also had to vac out the fire box and unclog the feeder auger every other morning.at 5 am so the family could wake up to a warm house, never had to with any other brand. what thay put on the bag for ratings is a BIG Lie! dont trust them with your house, I had to keep my oil heat turned up with them for fear of freezing my pipes. redonculos!
In a nut shell,, Low Heat, black sooty ash, and creosote all over the glass.
Problem is US Pellet Manufacturers are trying to cabash the Canadian Pellet manufacturers . The pellets in Canada are regulated more strictly than the US Manufacturers. In short US Pellets are Garbage because they aren't tested to insure your getting what they state on the bags
Truth is with gouging and price increases it's getting to the point where they aren't worth burning.
worst pellet I have ever used! I emailed company and they tried to blame it on my stove.. I have 2 stoves both burned this pellet terribly. they also made me jump through hoops to fill out my complaint email. do not buy!!! I would rather burn my oil then be frustrated cleaning my stove after every bag I burn of this junk!!!Report
Why is everyone expects the miracle pellet at economy pricing? You spend 225.00 a ton vs. 340.00 a ton, guess what. Ash, more of it. Wood ash, good for gardens and flower beds. I've been burning pellets going on 17 years, Green supreme are as good as you get for the pricing. 4 ton of these vs. 3 tons of premium price wise. The main problem causing clinkers is the on off of the stove, keep it burning, less clinkers, keep dicking with the on/off or thermastat, more clinkers, regardless of pellets. Want less ash, more heat, spend 350.00 plus for the hickory/cherry blend pellets out of Pa. Want a decent pellet to heat your house, buy these. Of course, as with heating with any fossil fuel, there is cleaning/maintenance involved. And with any wood product, there is ash.Report
I burnt 10 ton of green surpreme pellets. Very disappointed. Low heat and a lot of the pellets had blue tarp in them. I will never use or recommend these pellets. Thomas MagwireReport
Pellets burn very well in my Harmon P68.Burn about a bag a day with a medium burning fire.Have to dump ash pan about once a month an by then glass needs to be cleaned...Report
I burned 3 ton of your pellets last year in my heatilator cab50 with great reviews minimal ash and i could go almost a week without clening the class or the ash. Now I bought another 3 ton this year but now my glass is dirty after 24 hours and i have to clean the ashes out every three days. Iam not doing anything different. why is the pellets so different form year to year?Report
While these are higher on the ash side they do produce a good amount of heat. I have a CAB50 and have to clean it more often than if I run energex or one of the better brands.Report
