2 pellet stove Bosca and Europa. Used many types of pellets. Most good pellets. Pick up 1 ton of green supreme at Tracktor Supply to finish of the season. Ash, Ash, Ash. I clean my units everyday usually with about 2 cups of ash but with green supreme about a gal. Of ash per bag. Pellets are light indicating soft wood and lots of dust in bag. The burn fast and produce large lumps of ash stuck in pot. I would only use as last resort.Report
Started burning Green Supreme for the first time yesterday in my Harmon P68. They seem to burn ok but produce an unpleasant odor. I'm thinking of returning the remaining bags and turning the electric heat back on until I can get another brand. I have burned Barefoot, Lignetics, Stove Chow and Tractor Supply pellets without this problem.Report
Picked these up at Home Depot. We have used many brands of pellets. These are hands down the worst weve used! Burn pot chokes with ash in 8 hours!!
bought 10 bags at tractor supply and it was all they had, my stove is an american harvest from tractor supply, these were the best pellets i have ever burned wish i could find more retailers of these in my areaReport
Used these last year. Not bad. This year around December the Ash content quadrupled. My ash pan in my accentra insert , is FULL in two days. When I use my Vermonts, I get an Egg Cup Full in 5 Days.
They changed something to cheapen it up.
I have a Harmon pellet stove that I have had for 8 years. I clean my stove completely every year and every week or so during the heating season. I bought 2 tons of pellets for this season. I bought these pellets based upon all the positive comments.
These pellets supposedly have a very low ash content. I dont think a pellet with a low ash content should require removing ashes daily from the burning area of the stove.
I have NEVER had to empty my ash bucket twice in a season. However, this year with the "low ash" green supreme pellets, my ash bucket has filled up twice and is half full again for the first ton of pellets.
I will NEVER buy nor recommend these Green Supreme "quality" pellets again.
These pellets may be better used in an outdoor fireplace where you would burn any kind of wood, including softwood.
Green Supreme pellets were bought at Lowes because they were the only pellets available when I needed to buy 1 ton. Two Home Depots and twoTractor Supplys were all out of pellets. I used GS pellets two years ago and didn't have any issues burning them in my Harman XXV. This 2014 batch seems to be not as hot burning and has more ash. The unburned pellets (in bag) seem to be lighter in color than others. This winter has been a very cold and I started out burning a ton of Stove Chow (Nov), then a ton of Green Team (Dec.), then a ton of Pres to -Log (in Jan./early Feb). The recently purchased Green Supreme (GS) pellets just can not match the heat output and lower ash output of the other 3 pellets brands....Sorry Green Supreme (NE Pellet) but I'm just being fair. Lesson learned-- next heating season I will purchase my 4-5 tons of one of the other 3 brands from the box stores in August/Sept. No more scrambling around the state last minute for pellets. BTW the best pellet that I have burned in my Harmon is the one from British Columbia....Okanogan Pellet (sp?) made from fir trees. It's a Super Premium pellet, a bit pricey but very good in every aspect.Report
Not good at all. Clogged burnpot and low heat output even after adjusting the draft to maximum. I measured the heat with an IR thermometer by pointing the laser onto third room air fin down from the top. Semi-scientific report below.
Stove: USSC 5502 on HR-1 Auto (Low)
Outside Temp: 10 degrees
I have a King stove 5500 from tractor supply, we have tried several types of pellets and these seem to burn the best, low ash and seems to be the best heat. I clean the stove once a week including vent pipe. My house is almost 2000 sq feet and was 20 below several days and only had it turned up to heat setting 3 and the house stayed 75 down stairs and about 70 upstairs. and I have VERY little insulation in attic. very pleased with these pellets. have burned just shy of 3 tons since october.Report
This is my first year with a pellet stove, I bought a new us stove 5500 and I figured I would buy higher quality pellets since the stove I got had mixed reviews. I got 3 tons of different pellets to see which worked best in the stove. I got cubex, lacrete, and wood pellet co. They all worked good, cubex gave me the most heat but they all roughly gave me the same amount of ash and clinkers. I would clean the stove every 2-3 days or every 6-8 bags. So I needed more pellets and I tried green supreme pellets just to see how they compared to more expensive pellets and I was really surprised how well they work!! I measured the heat output of them and it gave more heat than lacrete and wood pellet co and just a little less than the cubex and it looks to make slightly less ash so far. I would recommend these pellets, maybe a cheap stove likes cheap pelletsReport
