I have been using Heartland pellets for many years and would not buy any other brand. This year I purchased a pallet of them and have had nothing but problems. The pellets are softer than normal, they can be broken with the bare finger. The Quadrafire is needing cleaned every couple of days. The glass is blackening and the pot fills up with nash within two days. I have hoped it would improve but it hasn't. If stove is adjusted to proper burn height the stove will not continue to run.I will not be purchasing anymore of these pellets. The quality is not what I am accustomed to.

I could not use these pellets by themselves in my Pinnacle multi-fuel corn stove. The auger chewed them up to sawdust and I just couldn't keep a fire going for long. I was only able to use them but mixing them in a ratio of 2 to 1 wood pellets to corn, then they fed and burned just fine. They weren't the cleanest but the corn kept it under control and controlled the amount of ash as well. In my area my only other options for wood pellets are to others that rate near the bottom.

Has anyone else had problems with high ash content, and filthy glass? I have a Harmon stove and normally can go a month to 5 weeks without having to clean the stove but now have to clean it every 3 weeks. I bought 2 skids and have found 2 different types of pellets - most are a light color and a bigger pellet - these are the ones I'm having problems with the ash content and low BTU. So far, I have come across 2 bags with a darker, smaller pellet and I get much better BTUs out of them. Any comments would be appreciated! Bought these because they were highly recommended, but not happy with them now. Also - I purchased these in WI last spring for $3.99 a bag so price does vary quite a bit.

These pellets are over $6 per bag with delivery in my area (North East). Is there a comparable pellet that is produced closer to me...and hopefully not quite as expensive? We sometimes can't get them due to transportation/delivery issues with our retailers supplier.

We just got our first pellet stove (installing now). :)

We have been using them for the past 4 years in our Quadrafire and we are very pleased with them. They come in a 60 bag pallet as opposed to the normal 50, why, I don't know. Very good quality and our local dealer delivers it to our storage area at no charge.

They are made in Spearfish, SD. The plant will not sell direct. Workers their say they cannot buy them any cheaper as an employee, than you can at the local Walmart. $3.62 a bag today. Best pellets by far...
