The pellets tested were manufactured at Shelton Washington plant. Atlas is now being made at a different company with a different blend. The plant in Shelton is making Olympus and Cascade Pellets.

Just talked to Jim of Atlas. Atlas Pellets went into receivership a while ago. The new company will sell the same product under Olympus Pellets. New bag too. When, I don't know. I'm assuming shortly as retailers will want to stock up of the winter months.
I use the pellets as kitty litter. They don't breakdown as fast as the other "pine" product and it's cheaper.
I hope you find this information helpful.

I can confirm the Shelton plant is nearly up and running again. The new name of the product is Olympus and Denny is correct, same plant and many of the same employees with the same materials. We should end up with a product that makes for a simple transition for previous Atlas users.
I also know when the Shelton plant initially shut down, that West Oregon Wood products bought the left over Atlas bags and bagged them with their Blazer pellets. Blazers are a fine pellet (higher rating on this site) but different and I think a lot of Atlas users reacted to that difference, so some of the recent negative reviews may be a result of that.
In short, if you are a Blazer fan, most likely any current Atlas labeled product will work for you, and if you were an Atlas fan before, the Olympus Brand should be a fit for you when it becomes available.

I've got to add, in my business you hear the horror stories of personal dislikes and favorites regarding wood pellets. One day a customer will swear off a given brand of pellet and 6 months later, the same guy will have found that the same pellet has now become perfectly formulated and is his brand for life. Most of the time as a dealer you can tell if a pellet is genuinely poor or not by the sheer number of complaints. More times than not, it's the state of the consumer's pellet stove. I do not say this to demean the customer, but only to defend the pellet company's reputation. I also believe, it's hard to admit we've made a mistake and set the record straight, so I rarely have a customer come to me to renege on their past rants. If I ever make one, I'll be glad to admit it.

I've just heard a bit of good news. The Shelton Washington pellet plant that was formerly Atlas owned is restarting next month, with the same resources and a good deal of the old crew and plant management. This is very good news as their pellets had been a top seller here at The Martin Company in Elma. I hope I'm not speaking out of school, but I believe the product will be sold under the Olympus Pellet name. If that's the case the name sounds impressive, and I am confident with the same management they'll start right back up making a good product again. Kudos to Olympus!

I have been a dealer of Atlas pellets for about 3 years. I received my product from the Shelton, Wa. plant, and can confirm it is closed. However, I don't understand why the Atlas website is still up and running, advertising all the products and evidently a consulting business to aid other would-be pellet makers in building pellet mills. Overall, the Shelton plant made a very good product, which, like ALL pellets had some consistency issues from time to time, but still ranks toward the top of the best brands we have ever sold.

Same results as Grant Sarver. I bought 2 tons and burning the first one I was delighted at how well they worked. Good heat & very low ash.
The second ton is a completely different story. Have to clean the cake out of the burn pot every day & can't turn the stove up past 2 or it will fill the pot completely due to the slow burn.
I won't buy these ever again.

Absolute best pellet on the market. Being in PA, it is hard to find these pellets, but I have been on a 1 year mission to find more. Nothing is close
