2010 Winter - I had great luck with these pellets. They burned really hot and the ash level was much less that I would have expected from a new company using recycled pallets and waiste wood. Great job and I'll be looking for a ton or so this upcoming winter.

2011 Winter - Sept. I just filled them in the hopper and they are burning on this chilly, wet and raw day.  One thing that stood out is that the bag of pellets REALLY filled up the hopper.  The density feels great so I think there is probably a good 44 or so lbs in the bag.  Thanks for the added pellets!

I have an England 25PDVC stove. I have been burning pellets for 5 years now. Out of the 5 years I have tried many different brands of pellets. Out of all the brands I have tried. Inferno is at the top of my list. For being the worst pellets ever made. They give off low heat and high amounts of soot not ash. In a 12 hour period they form a clinker the size of a hockey puck. Which weight a little over a pound. This company has no quality control over their pellets. Many of the pellets are well over 1 1/2 inches and not uncommon to find many over 2 inches. I would not reccomend these pelets to anyone.

I have a Quadra-Fire fire place insert and have burned New England Wood Pellets since buying it 6 years ago. I was not happy with my last 4 ton purchase of NEWP for 2011-2012 heating season, so when they ran out I decided to try other brands. Unfortunately one of the brands I came across was Inferno Wood Pellets. I was shocked at how bad these pellets burned in my stove. I've heard other people talk about clinkers but never had them in my stove burning NEWP. After burning only 2 bags of Inferno Pellets I had to shut down my stove and chisel out the bottom half of my burn pot. The pot was so full of junk that it was making my stove vibrate badly and sounded like someone blowing over the top of a bottle, only much louder. I can't believe they get away with selling a product this bad. Stay away from these pellets! I would not put these in my stove again even if they were giving them away for free. Pellets were purchased at Lowes.

I am never buying inferno again. They break down and are dusty. The clog my upper auger at least 1x per day. Green Team is the same price and much better quality. It is a poor product.

what is the purpose of adding sodium to the pellet formula, other than to slow the burning rate??? my stove builds up with ash something awful, have to clean out every two-three days, especially T THE HEAT EXCHANGER PLATES TOO MUCH BUILD-UP

I have buned Inferno pellets in my quadrafire castille stove before. They are the worst pellets I have ever had. They leave clinkers the size of hockey pucks every day.The stove had to be cleaned thoroughly every week.Do yourself a favor and spend the money and buy a good quality pellet. ABSOLUTELY AWFUL!
For the past 3 years I have been sticking to the cheapest pellet I can find to help my Harman Accentra break even faster.

When I buy pellets from big box stores I don't fool myself into thinking i'm getting a top tier pellet, and fully expect lower heat and/or high ash. These pellets however set a new low. I'll begin with the packaging; I buy 1 ton at a time (it's all I have room for) and lug them from my trailer into the basement, the first thing I noticed is the poor quality of the bag. I had 6 bags rip open during transfer specifically along the longitudinal seam on the side of the bag. I chalk that up to "it is what it is" I did only pay $209 for these things after all.

Upon burning the first thing I notice is many odd "non wood" colors in the pellets, I figured it was paint that may have rubbed off from the extruder. Then things get fishy, I began to notice odd colored flames. Green flames, greenish/yellow flames and a chemical odor from the exhaust.

Last night I loaded up prior to bed and found a pellet molded with a huge chunk of neon green plastic, upon closer inspection I found 1,2,3,4 and 5 other pellets with pieces of non wood debris in them. After some careful consideration I decided to contact Inferno, I went to their website and low and behold the website no longer exists. I then contacted the Pellet Fuels Institute in regards to the situation with pictures of the contaminated product.

I decided that I will return the remaining 35 bags to Lowe's and go with the Vermont Wood Pellets carried at my local supplier (albeit at $70 more a ton)

In summary: I have had good luck with box store pellets, I burned MWP last year from HD and Maine's Choice from lowe's to decent results. Inferno however, needs to simply disappear or sell to someone who cares.

These are by far the worst pellets out there! I have definitely learned my lesson about getting what you pay for. I have a summers heat 2,200 sq. ft. unit and have burned a variety of pellets over the last 8 years. Prior to this burn season I had my stove and 3" pipe serviced and cleaned. On sale I decided to give these a try, breaking away from my normal brand which I was extremely happy with. On my first bag I immediately noticed a huge difference in the heat produced. I also noticed a pine smell both when burning and in the hopper, which I thought can't be good! Mistake number 2. After a 3 day burn I had to shut down due to the amount of ash buildup. When I began to vac out the ash I was stund to see the ash had clumped and formed a lava type rock. Which I had to deal with at every cleaning thereafter. As well as tons of carbon build up on and around the auger. Finally, I had burned through the entire ton of pellets I had bought and decided to give my stove and pipe a good cleaning this weekend befor I started back with my favorite brand. Thank god I did this! My 3" pipe was so full almost clogged with soot and fly ash buildup. Worse then I ever saw and dangerous. So to sum up BUYER BEWARE!!! Low heat range, tons of ash, carbon build up and dangerous amounts of soot and fly ash collecting in my entire exhaust system. So stay far away from these pellets!!!

I have been burning green supreme wood pellets all winter and i am running low. I went to lowes yesterday and purchased Inferno wood pellets. I think they are doing a better job at keeping my house warm. Normally we leave our stove at one setting 24hrs a day. at night with the old pellets the house would cool down to 66 degrees. last night while burning the inferno the house stayed one constant temp all night. i was a nice surprise after reading all the bad reviews. I will be buying 3 ton this year for the next heating season and Inferno is what i will buy.

Inferno pellets are the worst pellets on the market. Stick to Lignetics, Hamers Hot ones or Turman. All these brands are excellent! Take it from a stove installer and maintenance company. We see the effects of the other pellets every day. Keep warm and stay safe! Remember to keep your stoves buning safely with regular maintenance schedules. ALSO, REMEMBER TO DISPOSE OF YOUR ASH RESPONSIBILY!!!!

Burned a ton in a Quad-Fire and it was the worst pellets I have had in the past 8 years. Produced hard "clinkers" that stove manufacturer said was too much mineral in the pellets.

I brought 2 pallets of these pellets. I get moderate ash and need to clean my stove at least once a week. I have a Heatilator Eco Choice stove that holds 120# of pellets. One full load last 3 days so I use about 1 bag a day. My house is 1500 sq feet. I set the furnace 4 degrees below the the thermostat on the pellet stove. The Thermostat for the furnace is on the opposite end of the house. It works great. When it gets real cold, below 20 degrees, the furnace kicks on to keep my pipes from freezing. I find a fair amount of plastic and brunt pellets in the mix. No other problems so far.

I have been running 2 QUADRAFIRE 1200's for 10 years and just tried these. They were $209 a ton at Lowes so why not. Well they definitely leave more ash than I have ever seen. I need to clean burn pot out every 2-3 days and the stove glass is filthy after burning 1 bag.

inferno wood pellets are the worst pellets i have used.i thought i would give them a try because they were sold at a local home building center and i normally travel an extra 10 miles to get my pellets. The inferno pellets burn with FAR LESS HEAT than any other pellet i have used and MAJOR CLINKERS.i have to clean out my burn pot every day,its full of garbage.my stove is clean i clean it 1-2 times a week so its not a dirty stove issue.i will never waste my money on this trash again and i hope this post helps someone else from wasting their money on this trash.

GARBAGE, GARBAGE! I bought these pellets out of curiosity. We knew the former owners of Narragansett and loved their pellets until this new company Inferno took over. Their pellets are garbage, low heat high ash and pieces of garbage in the ash, metal shards etc. We are meticulous about the maintenance of our stove, so it's definitely the pellets. Buyer be aware, these pellets are not good for your stove. But that's just one humble opinion

Like most people there is always something to complain about. What most people don't say is how they maintain there stove's. If your car runs ruff do you complain to GM,or Ford, or Honda? No it's called a tun up or simple maintence. Due you this if you called BP, EXXON, and complained that the gas was bad they would listen? Think twice as Inferno states they stand behind there product, unlike most that sell dreams..........

I have burned Inferno pellets for three years now. I put together a list of people and we buy them all together to get the best price we can. Last year we purchased 35 ton and not one of us had any issues with the quality of the pellets. The 2 years prior the quality was excellent also. we all clean our stoves once a week. A clean stove is a happy stove. We will be putting our order in with inferno again this year with out a doubt.

First year with my MT VERNON AE insert and for lack of knowledge "rookie" I purchased 3 tons of these. What a disappointment and I wish I have read this comments prior to purchasing bc I thought it was normal of my auger kept jamming and the stove shutdown..it wasn't until I was given another brand of pellets to try and I noticed the big difference in BTU,ASH CONTENT and Cleaningness of stove...
So free to who ever wants them I have approx 1/2 ton left of these crappy pellets..

I don't know what it is but it's like sap or something. Buyer Beware Stay away from this pellet co. Bruce B.

We are using Inferno pellets. We have had 6-7 stove pipe fires in the pipes running from our stove to the chimney. We use an Englander pellet stove 25-PDVP that we have had 13 years, worked great, their customer help line is great. We have never had stove pipe fires before; the inside of our stove is glassy with creosote now. We put in a new chimney liner, have replaced the exhaust motor, have had the chimney sweep out, our computer readout is fine. Help please.

We bought a ton of Inferno pellets 10 days ago from our local hardware store, and started to burn them We own a Harman XXV and have never had a problem with it, we have it serviced yearly, clean it weekly, etc. While burning Inferno pellets, our stove would continually shut off completely. I resorted to changing the feed from 4 to 6 just to keep it running. We also had a green based flame with a dull orange in it and it was also a very small flame. I found almost no heat from these pellets as I had to set the stove to 90 and after 3 hours the room the stove is actually in only reached 75.

In filling the hopper with Inferno pellets for the last time, I actually picked out pellets that had green plastic in them, as well as paint chips. I bagged those and brought them to the store where I had purchased the ton, and was given a full refund for the remaining 42 bags. I also had a ton of "clinkers" that would not break apart even when stepped on! They were like little melted balls of plastic, which would also explain the green flame we were getting.

The first few days of burning, 3 members in our household became ill, coughing, runny noses, headaches, and went to the Dr's and were put on antibiotics, which after 7 days of treatment (while burning the Inferno)didn't seem to be working.

Yesterday, we cleaned the stove out completely of Inferno pellets and residue and loaded with Okanagan Pellets. The heat is amazing, not one clinker, bright flame (no odd colors, stove has not shut off with feed back down to 4 and the 3 ill members woke up this morning with NO SYMPTOMS. Could just be a coincidence.

But I will never purchase Inferno Pellets again.

I have had an Englands Stove Works Inc. Stove for 15years and never have had a problem with the pellets we used. UNTIL NOW...we purchased the Inferno wood pellets in Jan. 2012 and there has been nothing but problems. The auger has jammed up constantly (now it must be replaced) the stove shuts off constantly. For 15 years, with other pellets, we have never been fearful of leaving the house with the stove on...NOW WE ARE. Today, 02/08/2012, I bought back the remaining pellets to Big Y where I purchased them. But now what do I do about an auger that is not working properly or a starter that was constantly shutting off? I WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND INFERNO pellets, had we known what would happen we, of course , would have stayed away from Inferno. And I do clean my stove twice a month!

Lennox Whitfield stove. Figured all pellets were the same but after reading reviews on this site I've been inspired to try different brands and am surprised to find that they are not. These are way better than Fireside from Home Depot. I could barely get 6 hours of burn before the pot clogged up and shut down. With these I'm on 24 hours and going strong. These may not be the best. I see others aren't happy with them but for me, I'm happier. Will keep looking.

This is my second year with a wood pellet stove and I have used nothing but Inferno pellets and have had great luck with them. I was concerned about the bag weights but when I weighed a few of them I found they were all just slightly over 40 lbs. Great product and it is made locally!

We've had this stove, a Hudson River for 3 years without any problem in the past. My husband cleans the stove about every 2 weeks depending on the quality of the pellets. We bought 5 tons of Inferno pellets from Lowes in November and we've had nothing but problems. We used the last of our pellets from last year without any issues and opened the first ton of Inferno pellets after Christmas. The auger has jammed with sawdust 6+ times and counting. We can't rely on the stove to keep running, thank God it's a warm winter otherwise the old people in my household would be freezing. I'm calling Lowe's tomorrow and telling them to come and pick up these pellets. We're done with this product!

I have had a Harman Pellet pro pellet stove for over 20 years, this year my supplier ordered Inferno pellets for me, the first time I have used them. My auger jammed up once in twenty years, since I heve been using Inferno my auger has jammed up three or four times a day, the ash content is high, I usually have to pull my exhaust fan once or twice a season to clean it of ash, I am now pulling and cleaning it every week or two plus I am getting creosote dripping from my stove even when I am running it much hotter than usual to try and prevent the creosote.
I overhaul and clean my stove every spring and always keep it in excellent condition. since I have been using Inferno pellets I have had nothing but trouble, I'll never buy them again. At present I am mixing them with other pellets to try and help me through this heating season with less problems....stay clear of Inferno pellets.

I have a harman pb 105 boiler I clean it once a week and i have burned around 25 tons of pellets since 2009 when I purchased it. I have bought from direct pellets and home depot and a little local store and all of those pellets seemed to burn just fine some had little more ash than others but no big deal, but this year I bought 14 tons of inferno pellets and Im having nothing but problems with them my boiler is going out constantly and as a result of that I have prematurely burned out a brand new igniter not to mention sleepless nights worrying when the boiler will go out.And another thing they do not show anywhere what the btus are so I called them to ask and they told me that they are at around 8700btus that is not true because when my boiler is finally running it is not near as hot as other pellets that I have used in the past that claim theirs are around 8500btus. I usually run my feed rate around 3.5 to 4 but with inferno pellets Im running at 5 to 5.5 and still not enough heat.So I hope who ever is reading this beware spend a little more and buy anything but inferno pellets.

We purchased a Harman model P68 2009. Our son purchased a Harman [25 years Anniversary] model in 2006.

This year we both purchased your pellets "Inferno Wood Pellets" from Tractor Supply in Coventry, RI.

Both stoves have an automatic start which we love. And we have never had before a problem of our stoves going out. They are regulary cleaned as per our ownership manuels.

We have fired up our stoves for this season and as of just the last few weeks we have experienced the same problem.

        The Stove goes completly out.

After an investigation we've notice that some of the pellets get jammed when falling down the harper. This is due to fact many of the pellets are extremely long, as much in as much two inches.

My son has 10 tons and I have 5 tons. We do hope that this problem can be resolved. Otherwise it will be a long cold winter if we can't trust proper burning of our stoves.

I also need to mention that a friend of mine [don't know make and model of his stove] has experienced the same problem. He chose to return his 5 tons to the distributor he purchased them from , also in Coventry, RI.

On the plus side they burn efficiently and we are warm. We hope we can continue to burn your pellets.

I used these pellets for the 1st time this winter. They actually clogged the auger. This resulted in a back up to the feeder which caused a fire. It was a good think I was home when my smoke detectors went off. The fire actually went up into the hatch.

I was quite disappointed with Inferno this passed winter. They have "premium hard wood" pellets with low ash - but I've never cleaned the inside of my stove more often that I have with these pellets. My stove's manufacturer says I should expect to clean & empty my stove not more than once per ton (once per month). Yet, it's been filling up with ash and needing to be emptied every 3-4 weeks! And, the manufacturer says the ideal standard for premium hardwood pellets is not thicker than (+/-) 1/4 inch and not longer than 3/4 to 1 inch. However, Inferno pellets are 50% thicker at 3/8" and as long as 2 inches!! My stove has been shutting down constantly all winter long because these pellets are too damned long and are jamming in both the feeder and the auger. Many sleepless nights this winter getting up to restart the stove by sticking my hand down inside the hopper to free the stuck, oversized pellets! I would hope Inferno reviews these comments and improves their product. I would much rather prefer to patronize a local company, but not if the product isn't improved upon.

I second the motion. I purchased the first ton from Lowes outside of Boston before Christmas and they were very good. High heat and low ash... at $3.85/ bag. Seemed like a bargain so in late January i picked up the next ton. OMG, totally different story. Ash x10, ok heats but clinkers every 24 hours. NOT GOOD, i will not get these again.

Just plain old JUNK - would not pay 2 bucks a bag. they give off NO HEAT and clog your Auger. Lots of saw dust in them. clogged my auger four times. I will never buy them again. The best ones I have tried is pennington wood pellets and fireside ultra. the fireside ultra are from Canada and work the best. I also bought from HD stove chow - they suck too !!

The first two purchases from 2 local Lowes stores burned really well with a soft fluffy ash. I recently purchased 9 bags from a 3rd Lowes location and they seemed to burn faster and had clinkers in the ash. The pellets seemed more plumpy and aerated -- it may have to do with the way they were stored bny that particular Lowes. With this same purchase I tried 6 bags of SIH hardwood pellets which were very dense and solid. The SIH's are burning longer, hotter and with powdery ash -- I will be going back for more SIH's. Both brands wer $4.18/bag

If you want to save yourself a lot of aggravation DON'T BY INFERNO WOOD PELLETS. We have purchased this in recent months and they burnt great but this truck load that was just recently received at Lowe's won't burn fully just returned them!!! I will be calling the company that manufactures them as they seem to have a problem with production.

I have been burning randon pellets from the big box stores (Orange and Blue) this year. I usually order a couple of tons to start the year (my 3rd season), but didn't. I ran across the Inferno pellets at Lowes and found these to be as good or better than the "super premium" I paid a premium price for last year. The Lowes price is great and these are the best pellets I have burned and I have burned a dozen or more brands.
