Long time pellet burner, Just sharing my pellet spot checks.
and yes that sounds like a pellet issue. A "clinker" is unburned material / minerals which have not been eliminated during the drying process. Can you increase your air flow intake that might help a bit? you may also want to try another pellet like a Turman, Cubex or Somersett (sometimes found at Lowes). Pellets made by a hardwood flooring company use kiln dried wood which is depleted of minerals due to the slower drying process.
This is my first year using a wood pellet stove. I purchased a Chinese mfg. stove that is computer controlled. I bought 4 tons of wood pellets, "Fireside Ultra" from a local big box store. It seems to me that there is a large amount of ash. I clean the stove every day in order to keep the burn pot very clean so that there are no obstructions preventing air to the burn pot through the small holes. Can someone tell me if it is just the quality of pellet that is causing this large amount of ash and clinker? It seems that I should be able to run the stove for a couple of days without cleaning clinkers out of the burn pot.
whats a clinker?
Thanks Jay! Keep up the great work!
