I've burned through about 200 bags of these pellets. Bought them at a local farm store. The first 50-100 bags were amazing. The pellets were hard packed, very little fines, dropped down in the hopper, and heat output was great. However, the more recent bags I've purchased have been what others describe; loose, lots of dust, get hung up in the hopper, and worst of all the heat output has dropped. I had to turn up the fine adjustment on my auger to compensate. If I could get batches of the first type, they're definitely worth the money. This current type has me shopping around for alternatives.

I have had a corn/pellet stove since 2003. Back when corn was less than $100.00 a ton. I have used a lot of different fuels, these are by far the worse I have ever used. The reason I quit burning wood all those years ago was because of the dust. These pellets are dustier than any I have ever used. My stove will be a little less than half full and the fire will go out. This is because the pellets don't slide very well because the dust gets built up in all of the corners. I just spent an hour getting all of the dust and garbage out of my stove because it built up so much the auger stopped working. I have NEVER had that happen in the 12 plus years that I have owned a stove. I would not recommend these to anyone.

I have had a rough time getting pellets this year and since Wayne Davis are made a few miles away from me I thought I would give them a try. After a 100 mile round trip in the opposite direction (local place didn't know the difference between bedding and fuel pellets) I brought home a ton. I have burnt though 1/2 of it so far and here is the good and bad.

Pellets are poorly formed and very moist, bags have a very strong softwood odor, Didn't bother me so much, but drove my pregnant wife insane, and the ashes don't fall though the hopper very much but don't really build up on the inside as much as you would expect.

These things put out the heat however, at least 20% more than the hardwood I was burning at the very same price per ton. So with the brutal cold we have had this winter I loved them. Don't know if they would be my first choice to buy again, but I certainly wouldn't avoid them.

I have a quad afire pellet stove it is about 4 years old I clean the stove every 1-2 weeks. I have burned both hard & soft wood pellets from various manufactures. I burn 4-5 ton per year. The Wayne Davis softwood pellets I am now burning are by far the worst I have had. They burn fine but they do not fall down in the hopper they hang up on one and another. I talked with my supplier he had no idea why they would do that. I WILL NOT buy any more of these pellets. On a scale of 1 to 10 I would rate the usefulness as a 1
    Thank you
    Tom
