i started using green gold preimun last year and just got my 5th ton for the year.my question is 1/2 way through the ton i found a bag with 3 red stripes tape on the bag .does this mean anything? i think your pellets are excellent. thanks
I burned 2 ton of Green Gold in my Quadrafire Mt Vernon in winter of 2012. This was the first year with these pellets and this particular stove. I found the burn to be acceptable. They are not the hottest pellets I have ever burned, but the heat output is acceptable. They burn remarkably clean. I do a minor clean of the stove every 3-4 days to clean away ash build up in the fire chamber. The glass stays “Relatively” clean with these.
I burned a literal ton of various other brands from big box stores. Taking into account the inherent moisture content of these pellets due to where they are stored, I found varying degrees of burn and cleanliness. Although some brands were terrible, and others performed well, the Green Gold was by far the most preferred. It was the superior pellet of the ones I burned for 2012.
For 2013, I ordered 2 more ton, as well as 2 ton of instant heat. The instant heat was nearly $30 a ton cheaper coming in at $214. They are an all hardwood pellet and I have heard encouraging things about them. I look forward to comparing the burn quality of these two brands.
We buy our pellets from B&B wood pellets in Chittenango NY. They keep their stock in dry storage and are delivered to you directly from dry storage. The moisture content of these pellets “Of any brand” is FAR superior to BB stores who store them outside in the weather.
The conclusion as far as Green Gold is concerned for us is that they are a high quality pellet that is a pleasure to burn.
love green gold have run about 10 tons in last 3 years runs hot and clean low ash
Bought 2 tons paid 250 per ton. Burn hot and clean very happy. My 25-pdvc and whitfield profile 30 love them
Bought these pellets just to try them. Well let me tell you they are the best pellets I have ever burned. Great heat and little ash. I usually have to clean our stove twice to three times a month but have not cleaned it in a month. I could go a little longer but we are in a warm spell and the stove is off. I literally had to turn the feed down on the stove cause the house was getting to hot and the thermostat was set at 70 and it kept climbing. Wish we would have found these pellet 4 years ago when we bought the stove. We have England Stove works 25pdvc stove.
The only issue that we have had is that a few of the bags had a bunch of fines in them. One bag had a handfull of it but if that is the only issue we will deal with it.
Are the plastic bags recylable?
