Our store was out of our usual Olympus pellets. They had only One pallet of Greentree, so we took a chance. DID NOT pay off! Worst pellets we’ve ever bought!!
Pros
I only bought 25 bags. Trying to return the Won't Use bags
Cons
Should have known something was up when the stink in the suburban was so bad, we had to open all the windows on the way home! While unloading bags, my sister had a severe allergic reaction and couldn't stop sneezing. The stove was just cleaned, and in a week of low usage, the ash level was SO high, it had to be emptied. Woke up to a clinker (just one of many). After cleaning pot out, and waiting 2 hours at 3/4 burn, the temp only raised 5 degrees. Have changed settings multiple times. Cons: Create TOO much ash, TOO many clinkers, NOT enough heat output, and Terrible, chemical smell! What trees and processing method are they using???
There is so much soot the glass on my pellet stove is black everyday. It runs from approximately 3 pm to 10pm. I have to clean the stove everyday. I won’t be buying this brand again!
Low quality pellet fuel would be a better title for these pellets. Tried his brand of pellet in a Wiseway gravity fed stove. Start out well with good heat, but leaves excessive ash which in turn reduces heat output and increases creosote in the stove as well as the pipe. Also pellets are too big to flow evenly in a gravity fed stove, requiring constant stirring with a stick or wire to get them to fall into the burn basket.
GREENTREE WOOD PELLETS….HORRIBLE. ..NEED TO FIX THE QUALITY. ..VERY SOOTY..TO MUCH OIL…OR SOMETHING. ..TOO MUCH ASH….NEED TO REFORMULATE….OR START OVER …
Pellets are all I use for heat. Greentree are the best to burn, I’ve tried all others I could find but they have high moisture so you have to continually knock em down, Thanks Greentree
1*. Just finished burning 25 bags purchased from Lowe’s. By far the worst purchase yet. I have a Quadra fire and these pellets leave lots of clinkers in the burn pot. I have to scrape down the burnpot and clear all the air holes almost every other day otherwise we get the lazy flame creating soot and lack of heat. I wish Lowe’s woud bring back the Sierra pellets.
Green Tree Pellets made in California and bought at Lowe’s. What happened to quality control. I have purchased three pallets this year. Only one has has pellets of a good size 1/2 to 3/4 inches long and gave me no problem.. The other two pallets worth has pellets 2 to 2 1/4 inches long, which clog the pellet stoves feeding port. Also, these pellets are terrible for forming clinkers, which do not allow the stove to light.
The company is aware of these problems, but apparently cannot get things right. I will not buy these anymore. They are not good nor worth the money. Do not know why they are selling these knowing the problems???????
My neighbor and I will be returning about 1 and 1/2 pallets worth.
The pellets are being produced by a new plant in Capella, California.
