We always burned bear mountain-great clean pellet, no issues. Lowes switched to green tree so we gave them a shot. Ran 2 bags through, it seemed ok so bought 3 tons. Getting into those the problems started-very dirty burn, leaves lots of ash and clunkers. Has a weird melted bandaid scent. And the worst? My 8 year old has had breathing problems since starting to burn the darn things-has been coughing/Got pneumonia. Lots of dr. Visits. Keep bringing up allergies. We finally put two and two together and switched back to bear mountain, his cough and crap is gone. We now have a ton of these things we can’t use! Don’t know what chemical substance they have but it’s not ok.
We have an Enviro Mini and usually burn Golden Fire pellets which are excellent. Lowes started carrying GreenTree so we tried a couple of bags, and they have been awful. They produce much less heat for the same feed rate, they foul the glass immediately on any but the highest setting, and they often fail to ignite. I will avoid these second rate pellets from now on.
We have a Quadra Fire – Santa Fe model. We recently burned thru 6 bags of Greentree Wood Pellets. They have burned cleaner than anything else we have tried so far.
I just bought 4 bags, better than the brand at HOME DEPOT,which come from bettle kill trees here in Colo, which i refuse to buy, nasty burn,no heat,Heat’s is a brand that was the best ones yet,I live in Aurora colo
i just bought the green tree pellets and now my top auger has stopped i have a New England stove can anyone tell me what might have happened . 1500 sq feet heating
Have search for what works best in my cab 50 stove for two years on this product purchase at Lowe’s, pellets burn hot like most , found that the dust left bag is a little more then other brands ,the BIG difference. Is burn time I only get 14 hours of continued burn time out of one bag. I will stay with harder wood not blended pellets.
Greentree Pellets from Lowes: I just bought 30 bags of wood pellets at Lowes and I have been buying them for years. I instantlly smelled a strong chemical odor as they were loading my SUV. They said it was probably the WD40 one of the guys had on his hands. I use these for cat litter and I just opened the first bag, and the strong fumes were unbearable. I am afraid to use these for my cats now because I don’t want to poison them and I have little expensive kittens. Please hel p me figure out what to do. Have they added any chemicals to the wood pellets? It is very toxic smelling. Please respond, Thanks
I just got green tree premium pellets and my pelpro 130 loves them! There is much less gunk than my previous pellets that I got from big r! The stove shuts off and relights with no trouble. I found them a the lowes store in peublo, co. I hope they have them next year!!
had a customer tell me they didnt put out much heat we just got them in at lowes we had blazer pellets now presto which sold well so we shall see how green tree supreme goes.
