I just started using a pellet stove on 15 November 2022 and have been totally impressed with the Heartland brand. Low ash content, uniformity of pellets and a reasonable price from my local lumber yard in Sheridan Wyoming. I have not had a single problem with burning them in my Comfortbilt HP22 stove, no feed problems at all. A neighbor who bought the same stove I have has had nothing but problems from the pellets he purchased . This week he purchased 4800lbs of Heartland pellets, excellent product and highly recommended, packaging is also top notch!
Very disappointed with Heartland pellets for this winter season. I have been using Heartland pellets for 4 years and never had an issue until this season. Pellets are not burning correctly and putting out a lot of black soot. The bowl is filled with unburnt pellets after about two days and yes the bowl is cleaned out regularly and clogged. I clean the stove every season by cleaning out the whole stove and cleaning the flue. My stove has always worked great until this season. I have already had to clean the flue again this season because of the high soot that is being put out. We had about a half a pallet left over from the 2016-2017 winter season and they brunt perfectly. Not sure whats wrong with these pellets but very disappointed!!! I bought 2 pallets and I think this will be the last time I buy Heartland.
Been burning Heartland pellets for a few years never had an issue until 2017-18 winter. We always clean our stove and flue out really good in the fall and it’s good all winter other than regular maintenance of cleaning the stove once a week. This year we started off the winter with half a pallet of 2016 pellets and everything was great. Than we started with the pallet we bought in 2017. They aren’t burning correctly. We have to dump the bowl out every couple days because pellets aren’t burning. We also had to clean out the flue again because it was building up a lot of soot. Very dissatisfied!
Just spent 45 minutes cleaning my PelPro pellet stove for the third time this week, where before I could go a week. Turned stove on has run for few minutes and already glass is blackened ,this is the second season I have noticed bad pellets, I think this will be my last batch from “Heartland” it is certainly not like the product I started with, very disapointed
I have used Heartland for several years with no complaints until last year I had several bags that really were sooty, and geasey , thought it would clear up, it did when I used the last bag of that bag. started out this year fine until two days ago again sooty, and greasey, the smoke smelled like creosote was burning, makes me wonder if the claims by the company is true about only hardwood is used in production, I have heard of others that have had the same problem, come on Spearfish, at one time you had a great product
Very dissatisfied with the quality of bag this year about every other bag we picked up tore a spilled pellets all over…. if it didn’t tear immediately it tore half way down the stairs! Please increase the quality of bags you use!
We have been burning Heartland pellets for many years in our Harman stove. The pellets are short enough so our auger doesn’t “whine”. Some other brands’ are too long and our auger will “whine” and it’s more than annoying. So Heartland checks off that box. Only problem we have burning Heartland is the DIRTY GLASS. I just assumed this was par for the course. Until we tried half a dozen bags of Black Gold pellets this year. No black, totally clear glass. First bag of Heartland, in just a few hours, black. Not happy. We probably won’t buy Heartland ever again.
I have an American Harvest stove I’ve been burning Heartland pellets for about 5 years with no problems at all great heat I haven’t emptied the ash pan going on 2 yrs yes it has been 2yrs so I guess the ash is going up the chimney. Last March I needed a couple more bags of pellets so I tried a hardwood kind from Tractor Supply it was very little heat and a lot of sparks going up the chimney never again

Excellent brand of pellets! I have a KOZY XL. Wish they were easier to find.
