In October 2017, I bought 40 bags of Heatr’s wood pellets for my Quadra Fire pellet stove at Home Depot and will NEVER buy them again! They leave 2-3 finger size “clinkers” in the burn pot per bag. The glass window is black after 2 bags. I am having to thoroughly clean my pellet stove after each bag. The some of pellets pieces are black themselves. I live in the mountains. 60 miles away from the city or I would returned them! Buyer be warned, do not buy Heatr’s brand wood pellets!
We have a new Quadra Fire Mt Vernon pellet stove. Our salesman/owner/installer bragged about Heatrs and how great they were; not surprising since he would be raking in the dough in service calls if we continued using them. But, we took him at face value and ordered 2 PALLETS of this garbage from Home Depot at the beginning of the season. After using 15 bags and having to clean out the ash AND vacuum and clean baffles and glass that turned black every 2 days, we went and bought several bags of Lignetics to compare to Heatrs. Heatrs are HORRIBLE! They leave high ash, do not burn hot and create a lot of unnecessary dust. 1.5 pallets were returned to Home Depot and while talking to the Mgr who processed the return, he told us that AT LEAST 10% of their customers returned Heatrs Pellets, very unhappy with the product. Probably because the other 80+% didn’t want to be bothered lifting 40# bags to return. Here’s the amazing part, the Mgr told us the local animal shelters bought Heatrs in bulk to use for stall and cage ground cover for their animals, apparently they absorb animal urine well and since they are so cheap, the shelters can afford them. As the saying goes…BUYER BEWARE, you get what you pay for. Will buy ONLY Lignetics from now on. Less than 1/2 of 1% ash, they burn HOT, minimal residue and cleanup in our stove is once a month. Far better product for the money.
Heatrs wood pellets use to have little saw dust. But for the last two years they have a lot.the bag I just opened had a 1 are more lb of sawdust in it.one bag I open had foot long shaveing.I was satisfied. But now I’m not.I have bought three pallets a year four the last four years.I’m very dissatisfied I will be looking for another brand. Quadrafire Mt. Vernon pellet stove, brand new. Experiment between Heaters pellets and Lignetics pellets. Bought 1 ton of both. Cannot wait to use up Heaters and will NEVER buy again. Comparison found that Heaters is not efficient and after 2 weeks of use our stove glass was black and we had significant ash both in the pan and in the stove. Cleaned stove out and cleaned glass (that was a process to get the black tar like substance off the glass), then used Lignetics for 2 weeks. Minimal ash and our glass was barely dirty with Lignetics. Yes, Lignetics costs more per bag, but you get what you pay for. Lignetics also heated a 2200 sq ft home far better than the Heaters did. 40# bag of Lignetics lasted 3 day/night. Heaters 40# bag lasted 2 day/nights.
Found dozens of cinder rocks in the Heat’rs brand. Could this be why my auger shaft broke? And is this due to incompetence or is it sabotage? Clogged auger also, cheap glue?
No problems with Precision brand though. Too bad we bought pallets full of the Heat’rs brand. Lesson learned.
It burns ok but, it smells like drying paint – the smell is so strong!! Every bag is like that. The fire was out when I came home to a cold house yesterday. It had formed a tunnel to the feeder and no pellets were being fed. I had to relight and it took over four hours to warm up. I use a Paragon pellet stove. Man, the paint smell is so bad!!
These pellets are so soft, I can grind them to dust between my fingers. I woke up cold, last night, because the auger got clogged up so the fire went out. A lot of ash was produced, and a good amount of pellets wasted. I would recommend that if you have no other choice but to use these pellets, that you only fill the hopper 1/8th of the way. This will save you from having to dig out 60+ lbs of pellets to access the auger just to get it unclogged. Also, the weight of the pellets will compress the bottom layer to the extent that thee pellets stick together and gum up the auger. Not pleased with this brand, and I will not purchase in the future.
Absolute garbage pellets. Bought 3 tons from Home Depot and the pellets in every bag never burned completely and produced more soot and ash than any brand of pellet I’ve used before.
These pellets were amazing! They produced a lot of heat and very little ash! I wish I could find more of them available. I got Green Supreme and a not happy with them. They produce much less heat and A LOT more ash!!! I’d say about 500% more ash than the Heat’rs pellets .
