I burn a lot of pellets and use them as my primary source of heat for my leaky old farmhouse. I have 2 stoves one in the cellar and one on the first floor to heat my 2800 sq,ft, 1860 farmhouse . Last winter I had tried a ton of Cubex which i found out were the same pellet as Northern Max. When i found my favorite dealer had these for spring special at $229 a ton I went for it and bought my supply for heating my house this winter 10 ton. I have burned a lot of pellets and these match or exceed any pellet in heat output I have tried including softwoods and yes even Douglass Fir. The ash output is more than Doug Fir but then again all pellets put out more ash than DF, some softies have better or less ash but dont match the heat output. The quality of the pellets are exceptional, dense hard pellets and of good length in not to long or short average between 1/2″ and 1″. I decided I would do a little more cleaning of the stove and save $1000 bucks doing so as the heat is flipping awesome with these pellets. If you have access to these dont hesitate to grab them, if you typically burn softwoods you will have a bit more frequent cleaning of the stove but they will deliver the heat at a much reduced price if you can grab them in the spring .
Excellent pellet from our friends up north made from wood waste created in milling hardwood flooring . Good Stuff , great quality .
Really good heat with moderate amount off ash
I purchase a pallet of these wood pellets and lost 7 bags on the pallet because moisture must of gotten in them. When they are delivered to me I immediately put them in a dry cool place. Can I be reimbursed for the lost bags?
This is my second year of pellet stove use. Last year I used mostly Curran (didn’t care for them) but sampled other brands. This year I did a ton of LaCrete, a ton of Queston, and a ton of Northerns. All are good pellets, but I have been impressed with the low ash output of the Northerns. In addition, my auger squealed a lot with the Currans. Less so with the LaCrete and Questons, but essentially none with the Northerns. The Northerns also seem to feed better and not “funnel” as much in the hopper.
These pellets were recommended to us by the people we bought our stove from. We used them all last year and I must say their performance was excellent. They had very little ash and clean up was almost nothing every week. The price was about moderate compared to some of the other pallets and we had no problem getting them locally in central Massachusetts. We will buy them again this year.
I bought 15 bags of these pellets. They burnt great in my harmen p43! They where real hot with low ash. I would recommend these pellets to any haman owner. I know harman can burn any pellet on the market. But these ones were the best!
I have an enviro m55 cast. This is my first year burning wood pellets. I have tried 10-15 different brands and northern have burned the hottest of all of them. They have been petty low ash as well. My stove runs best on straight hard wood pellets. There are a little more fines though than some of my other favorites like Turmans and Barefoots. But over all a great pellet!
My Harman P35I loves these. A 3 stove setting at 3.5 feed rate kept my 850 sq. ft. house 72 when it was at zero or below burning one bag per day. Great heat output and minimal ash and fines. Ash pan is vacuumed every week or so with burn pot scraped daily. I’ve cleaned my system twice so far (monthly) this season with minimal flue deposits, moderate buildup under the auger.
Very nice pellet. Great heat and low ash. Glass stays clean. Worth the 280$
burning in my Quadrafire CB 1200, very low ash content and burns nice and hot. Very happy with these pellets for $250 a ton
