The first thing you notice when you open a bag of Rocky Canyon Pellets is the uniform warm rich red pellets. This is unique only to Rocky Canyon due to the amount and quality of natural Red Fir used in each pellet. Other pellets have a white, grey or even a brown pellet; this is a result of using inferior wood. We choose not to compromise the quality of our pellets by using inferior woods, other fillers or glue. As a result of using the finest natural materials, Rocky Canyon Pellets burn HOTTER, LONGER, and CLEANER. Providing a quality, environmentally friendly method of home heat is our unwavering goal. When you use Rocky Canyon you can consistently count on burning the finest quality pellet in the industry.
Summary
I would love to get a bag in the mail this year so I can add some more info and pics

very clean but
these are about a clean burning as you can find. Ash is so fine it goes out the exhaust. never any clump in the burn pot. a couple of years ago the had quailty control problems. The kids watching the fill conveyer we not paying attention and some bags got a lot of sawdust. in the 2020-2021 winter I never had a problem though. My supplier did have problems getting truck load delivered in 2021 and ran before the season was over. I thing it is a demand problem

If there are better pellets, I havn't found them
I’ve been using Rocky Canyon pellets for 6 years. They burn hot, leave little ash and have never clogged my stove. I am open to other pellets but these are the best I have found so far.

So disappointed.
I bought a pallet of these pellets and wished I hadn’t. The pellets are not uniform in size. They clogged the auger chute. They left so much sawdust on my pellet container. I also found a piece of plastic in one of the bags that would have caused havoc in if got caught in my pellet stove. Wish I could get rid of this pile!

So disappointed.
I recently started using a pellet stove. I bought a pallet of Red Canyon. Almost immediately the auger seized and had to be pulled apart and cleaned. The size of the pellets is not uniform. The pellet may be 1 inch to 1/4 inch. It clogs the auger chute. I found a large piece of plastic in one of the bags that would have caused havoc in my pellet stove if I had not found it in time. Also there is lots of sawdust in the bottom of my pellet container. I wish I could unload this worthless pile.

Love em! The best!!
All I know is they by far surpass all other pellet brands I’ve tried. Ash is almost non existent, heat is awesome!! I’ve never gotten a bag with excessive dust. Unless they got wet by the vendor leaving them uncovered

Softwood burns better than hardwoods ?
I am not certain the soft wood vs hard wood statement in article is completely correct. If you look at any scientific articles on wood burning. You will read the hard woods burn longer than softer woods. Ultimately having a higher btu rating! If softer wood pellets burn hotter it must he due to the frequency of pellets are added I would think. I know of no scientific article that suggests soft wood burns slower and hotter. Maybe you can direct me to a link that shows this different point of view.

To much sawdust
I have been using Rocky Canyon pellets for several years and I really like the way they burn in my stove. I don’t have to clean the burn pot as often and it isn’t as crusted over with these pellets.I buy my pellets by the ton and this last pallet had so much sawdust in each bag, the hopper and auger were continually plugging up. I’m very disappointed. I don’t want to, but I may have to find another brand.

Bad Quality
In one 40 lb bag of Rocky Canyon wood pellets I sifted out 3.2 lbs of saw dust and splinters. Their quality control is non-existent. I don’t believe they know or care what saw dust does to a pellet stove augur.

The last couple of years the quality of the red fir pellets has dropped considerably. There is entirely to much sawdust in the pellets. A lot of moisture damaging the bags. May have to change brands if the quality doesn’t improve. Very disappointing!

Disappointed
I have been using RockyCanyon for many years but this year maybe my last. Every bag had so much dust/shavings that my stove would clog up. Very disappointed. The quality control has gone down every year since their fire. In my first ton I had 10 bags that had water damage. I hope they step it up, I like the fact that do 100% red fir. I will try a couple of bags next year and see.
