Tractor Supply Wood Pellets

Wood Pellets at Tractor Supply Co.

Tractor Supply stocks several bagged pellet fuels for stoves, typically in 40-lb units. Below are some specific brands or labeled products you’ll find online and in-store—check your local store for availability, bag date, and batch quality.

Notable Listings

  • Green Supreme Wood Pellets – “Hardwood Wood Fuel Pellets, 40 lb” label often seen in the Northeast.
  • Soft Wood Fuel Pellets, 40 lb – Generic softwood label widely stocked.
  • US Stove Hardwood Heating Pellets – “Hardwood Heating Pellets, 40 lb” listing.

Buying Tips

  • Check bag date and condition: Because many bags are standard-stock across stores, freshness can vary. Moisture, sagging bags or faded labels may signal older stock.
  • Know your fuel type: Many bags are blend or softwood dominated—if your stove prefers hardwood pellets, be sure to inspect species info or ask staff.
  • Inspect for fines/dust: Some users report higher ash or dust in large discount bags from general-stock lines at Tractor Supply.
  • Ask about availability of “ton” or pallet buys: Some stores allow pre-buys or pallet ordering which can improve freshness and savings.

Status & Performance Summary

Tractor Supply remains an accessible retail source for pellet fuel across many regions, especially for homeowners seeking convenience or shorter supply chains. While the basic in-house bags offer value, performance may vary batch-to-batch. For top performance (very low ash, ultra-consistent burn), many pellet users still recommend testing a small quantity first before buying bulk.

Bottom line

If you’re shopping pellets at Tractor Supply, you’ll find good availability and competitive pricing. For best results though, treat it like value fuel—check bag date, inspect the condition, and if your stove is tuned for premium pellets, be prepared to test or compare a few bags from different batches.

I have been using Home Depot Green Supreme for 4 or 5 years.
They had no more so I bought 12 bags from Tractor Supply.
These are TSC brand in the clear and red bags.
They are the ashiest pellets I have ever burned.
With the HD pellets I easily get 48 Hrs between firepot dumps.

The tractor supply brand of wood pellets are junk and a lie. The bag says hardwood on it but the pellets are made of pine not a hardwood

    TSC Pellets

    Pros

    • They burn hot.

    Cons

    • Leaves a lot of ash, and sticks to the glass on the stove,. Some pellets are too long, so they bridge the auger chute, causing the flame to go out. Had to adjust the chute so this wouldn't happen, and am now wasting pellets and the house is too hot on level 1. Also there is a lot of powder in the bags which also clogs the chute. I have to empty the hopper after every 2-3 bags and vacuum out the dust. I've read they have different suppliers, and the pellets vary in quality each year. The pellets I'm referring to are from vendor #3195163, Brentwood, TN, in 2025.
