For a supposedly “top of the line” pellet stove that we’ve only owned for 4 years as of this review, we’ll be needing a second major repair. Two years into ownership, we had the controller board, igniter, and firebox replaced. Now another two years has passed and need another firebox.
The reason for both repairs is a massive hole develops inside the firebox pushing outward. Apparently the igniter doesn’t shut off, overheating the box, and the steel bulges up and melts a hole.These pellet stoves are expensive and we thought we were buying a quality product. Even with some items being under warranty the first time, that cost us $700 USD. With a second repair necessary, we’re evaluating other heating options. Not interested in an appliance requiring major repair work every other year.
Not sure how to post the review stars, but I’d give this stove 1 1/2. It does work and heats well, but expensive to own and quality is lacking. Cleaning inside the unit is terrible using the included brush that lets the black soot go all over the room. Cleaning the holes in the firebox is a joke with an allen wrench. You’re supposed to push it into every hole to open it up when plugged with ash. There’s a bunch of them you can’t see, so it’s quite difficult. I can’t believe there isn’t a tool that you can line up at one time, press down, and clear all at once. We have AI tech these days, but nothing for what could be a simple job? Harman can do better.
I installed 2 of these now and we absolutely love it. I installed one in my old house and liked it so much i put one in the new house we built. I installed it in the new house while we were in construction and used it to heat the job site through an entire NH winter while we were building. I find it super easy to use and very efficient. the smart control makes all the difference. It allows you to set schedules and control the heat to what you need and when. The only short gap is that it is not wifi or smart home enabled. It would seem to men that enabling those features would make this unit a complete solution
