Harman ADVANCE Pellet Stove.
I have had my Harman for 10 years now with no problems. I burned all types of pellets and Yes all pellets burn differently. It also looks like all the stores that sell pellets look to find the cheapest pellets because every year they have different brands of pellets. Thus I have to experiment to see what burns the best. If everyone tells them a particular brand burns best they Jack the price up. Best not to tell the store and keep it to yourself and reap the lower cost of heating.
Well I took the leap this summer from a 12 year old Whitfield Advantage Plus to a brand new Harman Advance and so far I am not impressed with Harman’s new technology. I have had the dealer come out and look at it and all I got out of that was $150 less in my wallet. Each time I light this stove with it’s auto light technology I get a house full of smoke. The problem I think is it’s taking way to long for this stove to ignite and the stove firebox is filling with so much smoke while it’s smoldering it’s weeping out of every orifice of the stove and pipes. The dealer sealed the pipes for me, but my house is still filling with smoke. Vent pipes are clear with no obstruction, confirmed. I have had no problems with lighting my Whitfield for the past 12 years. I didn’t have to seal every seam of my vent pipes neither. That will be fun to take them apart and clean them now. I also see a hard crust of material building up in my burn pot also. I hope once it’s running round the clock 24 7 I hope it gets better. Compared to my Whitfield I have to give this Harman Advance a big thumbs down after the first couple weeks of ownership.
