Northern Max Wood Pellets
100% Hardwood – Premium Canadian Fuel
Northern Max Wood Pellets are manufactured in Canada from kiln-dried hardwood sawdust sourced from species such as oak, maple and walnut. The result is a dense pellet designed for high heat output and low ash residue—ideal for homeowners seeking a top-tier hardwood option.
Typical performance: These pellets often test near 9,000 BTU per pound with ash content as low as ~0.30%. The quality of the raw material and the manufacturing process contribute to clean burns, longer burn times and less frequent stove maintenance.
Availability: Distributed in the northeastern U.S. and Canada through specialty dealers and pellet fuel suppliers. Because Northern Max is positioned at the premium end of the market, bag date and current-season production are especially important to check before bulk purchases.
Status note: Northern Max remains well regarded by pellet-stove users for its strong specs and clean performance. As with any premium pellet, ensuring fresh stock and proper storage condition are key to achieving optimal results.
Bottom line: If your stove is tuned for hardwood fuel and you’re looking for one of the cleaner, higher-performance options available from a Canadian producer, Northern Max Wood Pellets are a standout choice—just verify you’re sourcing fresh bags and buying from a reliable local supplier.

Dirty and Ashy
I don’t leave a lot of reviews but people need to be aware of this shitty product. I would say they repackaged big box store pellets, but even those are better quality than these. I bought a ton in 2023 and they were great. The pellets from this company that I bought in 2024 were totally different, even the appearance of the pellet was changed. Dirty and very ashy.

Pellets too long
Unfortunately, many of our 6 pallets of Northern have pellets that are not cut correctly making them twice as long as they should be. This stops our Harmon auger and if we are not here to manually break them up, the stove goes off.. ie it was 51 degrees in our house this morning.. we won’t be buying them next year.
