Must-have stove gear

Three tools do most of the work of keeping a pellet stove running well. None of them are expensive, and all three are things I use every season rather than things I was sent.

Boar hair brushes and more

About $10

Great for getting in behind the stove and into the hard-to-reach parts. Real boar hair, and only ten bucks.

PowerSmith PAVC101 ash vacuum

About $80

A good little vacuum I have had for years. I use this through the season; when the stove has been cold for a few days I switch to a shop vac with a fine dust catcher.

SootEater pipe cleaner

About $35

Designed to run off a cordless drill. Keeps the vent clear, which means safer and more efficient heating and a longer life for the stove and pipe.

Got the gear? Now use it

The weekly round takes about fifteen minutes and is the cheapest upgrade a pellet stove will ever get.
