La Crete Wood Pellets
100% Softwood – Super Premium Fuel
La Crete Wood Pellets are made from pure softwood sawdust (primarily spruce) with no additives, no bark, and compressed to deliver high heat and ultra-low ash. They’re manufactured by La Crete Sawmills in British Columbia using clean, dry wood fibre sourced in their own lumber operations.
Typical specs: Heating value around 8,800 BTUs per pound, ash content near 0.3%, moisture content about 4%. These high-performance pellets come in 40-lb bags or mini-bulk units and are geared toward pellet-stove owners seeking top-tier softwood performance.
Availability: These pellets are most commonly found through specialty dealers and delivery in the Northeastern U.S., and in Canada. Because they’re premium softwood grade, stock may be limited and distribution more selective—so check local availability, bag date and storage condition before buying large quantities.
Status note: The brand remains listed and considered a premium choice within the softwood category. However, some recent user feedback points to batch variation which suggests verifying the bag date and testing your stove early in the season is wise.
Bottom line: If your stove is optimized for softwood fuel and you’re looking for one of the cleaner, hotter options available, La Crete Wood Pellets are a standout. Just ensure you’re sourcing fresh stock and confirm your local dealer’s supply.

Nov 2017 – OK, the bag is not really that bad. Super awesome this year! highly recommend if you are a fan of the softwoods. These pellets burn super hot and low ash! Very nice, keep up the good work on these. Love the product.

Wet bags of pellets
Many bags came wet, pellets designated and became clumps or dust. The dust clogged my pellet stove which meant more cleaning for me. I bought them from Bark Unlimited. I would not recommend these pellets.

Great Pellet
Tried La Crete for the first time ,But I’m happy with them .My usual Barefoot were not available and got sold out ,so I actually feel that these burn a little bit cleaner in my Harman Accentra insert .Less clinkers ,nice and warm ,I hate to give a good review cause I hate to have hoards of people buy these up ,then the price goes up.But yes I highly recomend these and I’ve burned pellets for12 yrs or more I’m rating this pellet a 4 as there may be a pellet better that I don’t know about but 4 1/2 at least would be my rating

La Crete dirty pot
We got a B train 34 pallets in the fall 2018 same problem , need to clean pot daily the klinkers are not hard just use the vacuum but they fill up the burner , every time we get La Crete pellets they behave different no consistency , years back they used to be a hard pellet and burning very hot with some lite hash and pot clean for days . On the bag they claim spruce would be nice to see what else they have in there now ,any easy way to test pellets ?

La Crete, Best year yet.
3rd year burning La Crete. I clean my stove at least once a week. Started burning in September and haven’t had a clinker yet. This years batch is exceptionally clean, extremely low ash. Good solid, hot burning clean pellets

La Crete Pellets klinkers
I burned two tons of La Crete Pellets and it was great. Hot low ash. The third ton I can’t go a day and a half without stopping the stove and prying out over a cup size klinkers. Stoved cleaned still have the problem. Is a bad batch?
