North American Wood Pellets
Hardwood/Softwood Blend – Value Retail Fuel
North American Wood Pellets are produced by Curran Renewable Energy in Massena, New York, and sold in big-box retail outlets under the “North American” label. These pellets are made from 100% natural wood with no additives and are certified premium-grade by the Pellet Fuels Institute. The blend offers consistent heat output and dependable burn quality for everyday pellet stove users.
Typical specs: Bagged in 40-lb units and designed for solid heat performance with high BTUs and moderate ash levels. In general, users report that they deliver reliable heat at a competitive price point, though some batches may produce a bit more ash than premium softwood fuels.
Availability: North American Pellets are sold at major retailers like Lowe’s and The Home Depot throughout the Northeast and other regions. They’re positioned as a budget-friendly option for homeowners who want reliable heating fuel without the premium price tag.
Status note: This brand remains active and widely distributed across the U.S. market, with steady retail presence through large chains. As always, check the bag date and condition before purchasing, as older stock may show higher dust or reduced performance.
Bottom line: If you’re looking for an affordable, dependable pellet fuel that provides consistent heat through the winter, North American Wood Pellets are a solid option — just confirm you’re getting a fresh batch for best results.

THE WORST PELLETS EVER
Bought these North American pellets at Lowe’s north of Boston in March 2019. They had all the right things on the bag – Pellet Fuels Institute logo, low ash (NOT), etc. I have never written a review about bad pellets, my Harman will chug thru most anything. These pellets have gunked up my burn pot and created a TON of ash. In fact, my ash can only requires being emptied every 2-3 weeks, depending on what I burn. These pellets started to fill up the ash can after only 3 days!! I would never buy these again. The only positive thing I can say is that the bag was very secure and the heat was OK, but no where near worth clogging up the burn pot and mountains of ash. AVOID.

Junk, will never buy again
Terrible pellets. Ash output is way too high. I have to empty the ash pan every day. Low hear output too. Very dirty.

These pellets are absolute crap normally my stove runs on the lowest setting in the coldest weather !! These pellets will not stay lit on that setting. Luckily I didn’t buy to many!! I’m having to run the stove on a much higher setting just to stay lit!!
