Hotter, Drier and Cleaner than Pellet Fuels Institute national “Premium” standards
The Pellet Fuels Institute (PFI) set standards for all pellets, including “Premium.” Cascade pellets exceed these standards in several important ways, making them Ultra Premium:

  • Heat Output: Cascade Pellets are made from hot burning Douglas fir, which produces more heat, per pound, than other wood species.
  • 25% Drier Pellets: Cascade Pellets are 25% drier than PFI standards for Premium pellets. Drier pellets contain less water, so they burn more efficiently with more home heat.
  • 75% Cleaner Pellets: Olympus Pellets produce less than 0.25% ash, which is 75% less than the national “Premium” standards. Less ash means you only need to clean your pellet stoves a few times per month.

      Summary

These were fantastic pellets a few years back. I’m hoping to get a new bag for this 2018-19 heating season

I’ve burned Cascade Pellets for 3+ winters now—at least a ton or two each season—and they’ve been very reliable. They burn clean, only requiring a weekly stove cleaning, and they produce virtually no clinkers. Compared to some other brands I’ve tried (that are ”golden”), the difference is noticeable. Consistent heat, economical price, low ash, and easy maintenance have made these my go-to pellets. Highly recommended.

        Pros

        • Low cost, clean burning, low ash

        • None

Cascade pellets this year are terrible. Unfortunately bought two tons. Sootie to the point it is getting all over my home on my floor I don’t understand how but it is. Ash is terrible. Having to clean the pot everyday. Will not purchase again. Turns every thing black including my floor.

        Pros

        • Heats home okay

        Cons

        • Sootie to the point it’s ruining my floor blackens everything and creates a ton of ash

Bought a ton of cascade pellets last year, no issues, burned clean. Store was out of the cascades when I needed more. I tried two different brands. Both of these other brands didn’t burn clean, or weren’t as hot, auger would squeal due to excessive dust. Won’t make that mistake again. Bought 3 tons this year in the fall

        Pros

        • Quality, price, heat output, cleanliness.

        Cons

        • None , I burned wood for years, pellets are way more convenient, with less mess

        Cascade Douglas fir Pellets

        Pros

        • None

        Cons

        • Pellets are inconsistant at burning. Bag to Bag differ. And Ton to Ton change.
        • Pellet stove Glass blackens quickly, and yes I have checked air intake flows, Ash build up changes from bag to bag, Burning pot fills and plugs with black hard what I call a clinker. Pot plugs every bag. Last year they worked great, this year horrible product. Purchased from Home Depot. Very disappointed in this product. Not worth what I paid, for this headache
