Cheat River Wood Pellets

Cheat River Wood Pellets

Hardwood Blend – Value Heating Fuel

Cheat River Wood Pellets are labeled as a hardwood pellet fuel, sold in 40-lb bags and positioned at the budget end of the market. They aim to deliver dependable heating performance at an affordable price.

Typical feedback: Some users report acceptable heat and low dust in certain bags, while others observe higher ash accumulation, darker residue and less consistent bag densities. Because the exact hardwood species and blend may vary between production runs, your experience may differ.

Availability: These pellets have been found at large retailers across multiple states, particularly in big-box home improvement stores. Stock may vary widely, and because the pricing is value-oriented, batch freshness and bag condition are especially important.

Status note: The brand remains visible in retail channels, but recent user forums indicate variation in batch quality. If using this fuel, it’s wise to test a few bags early and confirm bag date and condition before buying large quantities.

Bottom line: If you’re looking for a lower-cost hardwood-blend pellet and are comfortable with moderate performance and possibly more frequent cleaning, Cheat River Wood Pellets may work—but if you seek ultra-low ash, high-BTU results, you may want to compare with higher-tier brands.

I bought 4 ton.. they are pretty good for heat. But the ash it awful.. blackens the glass within a 3-4 hours.. I have to shut it down every couple days to clean.. if i wait for the 3rd day to clean it takes 24-36 hours to clean out due to the ash still having hot coals. Never had this problem before.. horrible.. I will NOT buy again.

Purchased 4 tons of your pellets from Tractor Supply, Grove City, PA. Just got into a new skid of 50 bags and I am finding a lot of gray and swollen pellets in the bags. Getting a lot of ash and low heat.

bad pellets, lot of ash no where close to the quality of turman pellets. bought 2 tons and that will never happen again. they are way too dirty, must have pine sawdust mixed in , they are light in color and not the shade of real oak hardwood pellets, a sure warning tip off

    Pros

    • none

    Cons

    • high ash
