Eco Flame Premium Pellets

EcoFlame Premium Wood Pellets

100% Softwood (Pine & Spruce) – Premium Fuel

EcoFlame Premium Wood Pellets are crafted from virgin softwood sawdust—primarily pine and spruce—processed in the U.S. to deliver consistent performance for residential pellet-stove owners. The manufacturer emphasizes high BTU output, low ash content, and minimal fines.

Typical performance: The fuel achieves heating values of around 8,000 BTUs per pound in good runs and keeps ash content at or below 0.5%. The pellets are bagged in 40-lb units and targeted toward users looking for a strong softwood option at a competitive price.

Availability: Distributed via select U.S. dealers and forest-product channels. Because EcoFlame is a softwood-only pellet and produced from regional feedstocks, checking bag date, freshness, and storage condition is especially important before purchasing by the ton.

Status note: The brand remains listed and recognized by users seeking higher-heat softwood pellets. While overall performance is solid, some user feedback indicates variability in pellet size or fines among different production runs—so testing a small quantity early in the season is a sensible precaution.

Bottom line: If your pellet stove is tuned for softwood fuel and you’re after a clean burn, strong heat and a reliable performance without paying ultra-premium prices, EcoFlame Premium Wood Pellets are a good choice—just ensure you’re getting fresh supply and well-stored bags.

I’ve been burning a pellet stove for 22 yr. burning 5 1/2 tons a season. I’ve burned a lot of different brands over the years from absolutely terrible to amazing and the amazing brand goes to Lignetics hands down every time. I did not buy the eco flame by choice, Home Depot delivered them without me knowing until the end of the season when it was the last ton left to burn. There is so much saw dust in these bags that I really do worry about my auger getting destroyed from the build up. The pellets themselves are super short and very soft. I understand that these pellets are being made from beetle kill and I think that’s great but there has got to be better quality control. The ash that is left in my stove by the end of the week when I clean it reminds of cleaning a fireplace there’s so much ash. I don’t want to clean my stove twice a week because of these pellets but clearly I have to.

    Pros

    • There is only one pro for this product and that is clearing out the forest that has been affected from beetle kill.

    Cons

    • The cons, over priced, to much saw dust in the bag, pellets are to short, pellets are to soft, absurd amount of ash build up in the stove, the dust that fills your house when you empty a bag into the stove

Eco Flame pellets are too coarsely ground, so they don’t compact well enough to stay together. I have to sift each bag to work in my stoves, resulting in 2-3 lbs of sawdust/course chips from each bag. Secondly, I’ve never had much problems with “chinkers” until using this brand. I have to clean them out of the burn pot daily. NOT a premium pellet.
