Harman Advance: I found that the ash tends to accumulate and clog any movement into the ashbox. The ash tends to accumulate to the point that I cannot see the pellets being augered for burning. The hardwood pellet ash seems rather dense and solid. Unlike softwood where the ash has very little structure and loose. Can’t leave the house when using the last few bags. Will go back to softwood pellets. KD
Have a whitfield phase 2 pellet stove. Have been enjoying the heat and less ash, plus window not smoking up as much, very easy to clean. The last 2 bags of pellets that i used, i noticed them piling up in the grate. Checking it out discovered lumps of clinker, which i removed and all was well again. My good book informs me that the reason for clinker is that there is sand in the pellets. Could be from a front end loader picking up wood from the ground. Hopefully there will not be too many more.
