I have had my Lennox pellet stove for over 13 years. No issues. The igniter did go out last year. Replaced the fan this year. I clean it every year. Burn at least 3 tons of pellets yearly. I only burn Bear Mountain. I love my stove. To the other review that said their stove went out after a few minutes with smoldering pellets in box, well mine started doing that to. Stovetech came out and stove was not getting enough air or too much, I forget. Burns wonderful now. I recommend the stove
Question…..on the Winslow PS40 … can you install a wall thermostat to this stove?
We have had the Winslow since early 2010 and have not had any problems at all. We clean it about every 10 bags, and yearly have a chimney sweep in to clean it thoroughly and the chimney. Even on the coldest….10F nights, it keeps our 2700 sq. ft. home around 62F.
So tech came over, auger was getting stuck, allegedly the tines (saw dust?) got into the bearing, they had difficulty removing auger and bearings, no other issue noted, added graphite to auger at upper and lower bearing- they said that can help keep tines out.
I switched to their(vendor) recommended supplier , and got 1/2 ton of sommerset hardwood from Amsterdam ny. The vendor blamed the pellets, …. But I’ve only had it for 2 months! Maybe go back to softwood? frustrating to know what is actually safe/solid pellet,… But seems extremely odd that tines can so easily jam the auger bearings.
After service, been running a week on, will see.
Anyone else have similar issue? Any difference with soft vs hardwood pellets for jamming the auger/bearing?
Having same issue as Phil, clunking noise, increasing when unit gets hot, then like a loud stuck creaking door, from the auger/gears. We just had this installed a few months ago. Also had a good number of ignition issues. I’ll take a stab at removing the auger. A bit disappointing, not very reliable. Phil, did you have any luck?
Looking at posts below, really seems people were happy from models over ten years ago, but quite a bit of problems lately.
Tell me why the auger makes a clunking noise
No complaints about my Country Winslow Insert. It just works. I am curious what kind of pellets other owners feel are best for this particular stove. Softwood vs. hardwoods? Any particular brand?
My Lennox Winslow PS40 pellet stove has been absolutely rock solid reliable since the day I installed it in 2005. I am extremely surprised to see negative reviews of the Winslow here given the success I have had with mine. The stove effortlessly burns any type or quality of pellet fuel with zero issues. I keep it clean and it just does its job. I would recommend the Winslow to anyone. This is my first pellet stove, I considered Harman and Enviro when buying and went with the Lennox based on the dealers advice.
I was was disappointed to read some of the recent reviews above. I came to this site to check on what pellets were best this year and figured I would just check out what people thought of our stove. I have had the Lennox PS40 since 2004 in fact they weren’t even owned by Lennox then it was Country Stoves. Anyway we have had great success with our stove and absolutely love it. We have had to replace the POF and the ignitor once but over 8 years some maintenance is expected. We clean the stove out once a week and have it serviced once a year at the end of the season. The stove heats our whole first floor and warms the upstairs. It has saved us lots in oil over the years. We have learned that the right pellets make all the difference as to how the stove performs and how often it needs to be cleaned. I would recommend this stove as a reliable workhorse as it has treated us well over the years
Stay away! Stove is junk. Brand new and it is in need of repair already. Very unhappy with high pitched squeal noise coming from draft blower motor. Stove repair men have been here twice to fix control board. I am not impressed.
