Tractor Supply Wood Pellets

Wood Pellets at Tractor Supply Co.

Tractor Supply stocks several bagged pellet fuels for stoves, typically in 40-lb units. Below are some specific brands or labeled products you’ll find online and in-store—check your local store for availability, bag date, and batch quality.

Notable Listings

  • Green Supreme Wood Pellets – “Hardwood Wood Fuel Pellets, 40 lb” label often seen in the Northeast.
  • Soft Wood Fuel Pellets, 40 lb – Generic softwood label widely stocked.
  • US Stove Hardwood Heating Pellets – “Hardwood Heating Pellets, 40 lb” listing.

Buying Tips

  • Check bag date and condition: Because many bags are standard-stock across stores, freshness can vary. Moisture, sagging bags or faded labels may signal older stock.
  • Know your fuel type: Many bags are blend or softwood dominated—if your stove prefers hardwood pellets, be sure to inspect species info or ask staff.
  • Inspect for fines/dust: Some users report higher ash or dust in large discount bags from general-stock lines at Tractor Supply.
  • Ask about availability of “ton” or pallet buys: Some stores allow pre-buys or pallet ordering which can improve freshness and savings.

Status & Performance Summary

Tractor Supply remains an accessible retail source for pellet fuel across many regions, especially for homeowners seeking convenience or shorter supply chains. While the basic in-house bags offer value, performance may vary batch-to-batch. For top performance (very low ash, ultra-consistent burn), many pellet users still recommend testing a small quantity first before buying bulk.

Bottom line

If you’re shopping pellets at Tractor Supply, you’ll find good availability and competitive pricing. For best results though, treat it like value fuel—check bag date, inspect the condition, and if your stove is tuned for premium pellets, be prepared to test or compare a few bags from different batches.

  1. I have used these pellets for 3 years and never had a problem. this year they are crap i buy 6 ton aand the ash this year is so bad i have to enlt the ash pan every day as it is full and i would say it holds about 3 gallons so 1% ash my butt. i have even noticed that some of the bags had been put up wet as there was a lot of clumps in them and i know they didn’t get wet on my watch as they are stacked in my garage fron the day i pick them up. I anyone can recomend another one please do as this is the last of these i will use.

  2. Bags are intentionally perforated w holes presumably to allow heat or moisture to escape. Tractor Supply stores pellets outside. Pallets are initially wrapped in plastic. Then plastic is removed and bags are exposed to rain and melting snow. Pellets absorb moisture and become a muddy mess. What idiots came up with this idea?

  3. Bought some in oct first few bags burned good now they burn like crap adjusted air flow didn’t help makes more than the 1 percent ash also seems like impurities in pellets burn pot looks like coal after 1/2 day burning

  4. We bought pellets from Tractor supply for the first time and after ten bags we noticed a lot of cresol in the stove and the stove was brand new the glass was so black you could not see through it. Well we ended up with a chimney fire and now a brand new stove that is junk the pellets did not burn right they were clumpy and tons of ash and saw dust comlete garbage!!!

  5. Very poor quality. Low BTU’s and too much ash. I’ll go back to Turman or Hamer for good!
