CleanFire Ultra Douglas Fir Wood Pellets

100% Douglas Fir Softwood – Super Premium Fuel

CleanFire Ultra Douglas Fir Wood Pellets are crafted exclusively from softwood Douglas Fir sawdust, harvested as dead-wood material from the Pacific Northwest. With no hardwood mixed in, no bark, and no chemical binders, these pellets are built for maximum heat output and clean burn performance.

Typical performance: Recent production runs report ash content around 0.22%, moisture content near 4.4%, and dry-basis heating value up to 9,200 BTU/lb (≈8,550 BTU/lb as-received). These specs place this fuel among the highest performing bagged wood pellets available.

Availability: Sold through select specialty distributors and online from the manufacturer’s delivery network. Because this is a premium softwood-only pellet, availability may be regional and stock may sell out early in the season—check bag dates and ensure fresh stock before purchasing by the ton.

Status note: CleanFire Ultra remains a top-tier option in the softwood pellet category, prized for its clean burn, high heat and minimal ash production. As with all bagged fuels, batch and storage conditions matter—so verify freshness and storage environment.

Bottom line: If your pellet stove is tuned for softwood fuel and you’re after “best-in-class” performance—hot, clean, low-ash—CleanFire Ultra Douglas Fir Wood Pellets are a standout choice and worth considering for serious home heating.

      Summary

CleanFire Ultra Douglas Fir Wood Pellets Review

      ★★★★★ 5/5 Stars

CleanFire Ultra Douglas Fir Pellets are simply outstanding — easily among the best-burning pellets I’ve ever tested. From the moment you open the bag, you can tell these are premium quality. The pellets are light in color, uniform in size, and incredibly low in dust or fines. They ignite fast, burn bright, and produce steady, intense heat that keeps the room comfortable even on the coldest nights.

The heat output is phenomenal, and the ash is almost nonexistent. After several days of use, my burn pot barely needed cleaning — just a quick scrape and it was good to go. The glass on the stove stayed remarkably clean, too, which says a lot about how efficiently these burn. They deliver that distinct Douglas Fir aroma that veteran pellet users love, and the flame quality is vibrant and consistent throughout the burn cycle.

While the price point is on the higher end, you truly get what you pay for. These pellets outperform almost everything else out there, and the lower ash means less maintenance and longer stove life in the long run.

Bottom line: CleanFire Ultra Douglas Fir Wood Pellets are premium in every sense — super clean, super hot, and impressively consistent. If you want the best heat and minimal cleanup, this is your go-to fuel. Easily a 5-star pellet and worth every penny.

      1. Cleanfire pellets are terrible. The bags have a lot of fines, and they burn VERY dirty. I have a Harman that I have been using for 5 years, and throughly clean the stove every year. So far this year I have had to clean it 4 times already.
I also, for the first time ever, have ash dust throughout my house. I am finishing up 4 tons, and will NEVER use thase pellets again.
        They should be renamed Dirtyfire!

      2. I brought two tons of these pellets this year because I used Cleanfire Pacific pellets last year and they seemed to do a pretty decent job in heating my house, and boy they burned hot. This year when I burned these Pellets, boy they burned even hotter and I have to say I do not have as much ash as I did last year. However, they do have a sawdust smell to them which is weird, but that is something I can live with. Although they are expensive I have to say you actually get what you pay for and I rate these as premium grade pellets. Granted I am new to the pellet stove industry but I have purchased bags just as a test to see how they burn as well as the ash content is from Home Depot and Lowes, and boy what a difference I saw in the quality as well as ash from them. I even went to a lumber store around the corner from my house and tried one of their bags, still no comparison to CleanFire Douglas Fir. I am definitely going to purchase them again next year. I clean my stove every day and I really do not need to, I just like to ensure it stays clean. I have a Rika Visio Stove.

      3. Clean Fire Pellets clogged my auger too, causing it to squeal. I found lots of fine dust in the hopper. Once I vacuumed it up the auger stopped squealing. But I don’t want to have to do this after every ton I burn. And, yes, I clean my Harman Accent insert pellet stove every year before the cold season. It was pristine before I began using Clean Fire Pellets. I’m done with this product.

      4. I bought 3 tons of this pellet. Seemed to have a lot of fines, IMO, and kept clogging my auger. Burned woodpellet.com lowest grade last year without issue and then burned some Okies afterwards which were great. I wont purchase this “high end” pellet anymore. Also, notice a lot of large pellets. Burned very hot though,
