Freedom Fuel Wood Pellets

Premium Grade Fuel – Hardwood/Softwood Blend

Freedom Fuel Wood Pellets are produced in the USA using clean sawdust and wood residuals, engineered for high performance: with ash content under 0.5 % and moisture under 6 % they qualify as a super premium fuel. The manufacturer lists a BTU value of over 8,400 BTUs per pound.

These pellets are bagged (typically 40-lb bags) and sold through major retailers and regional dealers. They’re designed for residential pellet stoves where homeowners want strong heat output and minimal maintenance.

Availability: Freedom Fuel is distributed across multiple states in the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic, and may appear in big box stores or local fuel dealers. Because performance and supply can vary, check the bag date, storage condition, and production run before buying in bulk.

Status note: This brand continues to be available and marketed as a premium product. Some users report excellent performance, others note batch variation—so testing a few bags early is wise.

Bottom line: If you’re seeking a top-tier pellet fuel with strong heat and low ash, Freedom Fuel is a compelling choice—just verify that you have fresh stock and that your stove handles the blend well.

Summary

Nov: 2017 – These pellets absolutely did burn super hot. They seemed to be super dense with not much fines. I want to say that these are a southern yellow pine pellet. I could not find much info on online except to find out what the deal is. I had to clear out the burnpot in the morning but the heat was was nice! great pellet overall .

  1. DREADFUL, SHOCKING PELLETS - AVOID AT ALL COSTS!

These pellets have actual chunks of wood and non-pellet material. The chunks block augurs and break gears and electric motors. I’ve also found plastic embedded in the pellets. They smell bad. I’ve used various brands for 15 years. “Freedom Fuel” is by far the lowest quality of any brand I’ve encountered. I hand sifted a single bag and have a picture to show the amount of non-pelletized wood chunks and slivers next to the bag they came from, but don’t see a way to upload it here. If you could see it, you would avoid these pellets.

With these pellets I can’t even burn a whole bag without cleaning it out. It will clump up and fire goes out within 6 hours. Worst pellets I have tried by far and labeled super premium

  3. I would stay away from Freedom Fuel

I have been burning wood pellets for about three years now and I have to say I have not been more unsatisfied with a wood pellet then I am with Freedom Fuel. I purchased 25 bags of Freedom fuel at my local Rural King for $4.89 a bag. Not a bad price since most the other places have been selling them for $5 or more. I have a 120 pound hopper on my burner and a good size auger on it. But because these pellets are so large if I want a half way decent feed rate of have to set my system on the highest setting. I can live with that not the deal breaker for me. What the deal breaker for me is that I have found several plastic chips in the pellets as well as I have never before had the ash be so black and clumpy before and this pellets did just that. I can not say if it burned hotter then my other pellets because normally I can heat my home on the lowest setting for my auger speed but like I have stated earlier I have to run the auger on the highest setting just to get a good feed. I can’t wait to burn through these pellets so that I can start burning my better pellets. I will not purchase freedom fuel ever again.

  5. WORSE PELLETS IN HISTORY!

If I could leave a ZERO rating I would. These pellets are crap, they are worse than crap. They shut my stove down completely. I DO NOT recommend these pellets.
