Green Supreme Wood Pellets

Hardwood / Softwood Blend – Home Depot’s Most Common Pellet Fuel

Green Supreme Wood Pellets are manufactured by Lignetics Group and sold nationwide through The Home Depot and regional distributors. They’re made from a blend of hardwood and softwood sawdust sourced from sawmills throughout the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic regions. Each bag is P.F.I. Certified for premium grade fuel and contains no additives or binders — just pure, compressed wood fiber.

Typical specs: 8,200 – 8,500 BTUs per pound and ash content around 0.4 – 0.7 %. The pellets are screened for low dust and packaged in durable 40-lb bags. They burn hot and steady, making them a popular “go-to” option for many Home Depot customers each heating season.

Availability: Green Supreme is distributed nationwide through Home Depot locations in states like Maine, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, New York, Pennsylvania, and Michigan. Regional plants under the Lignetics umbrella produce different formulations to match local wood species, so BTU and ash numbers may vary slightly by region.

Status note: As of 2025, Green Supreme remains one of the most widely available retail pellet brands in the U.S. via big-box stores and local dealers — but bag date and mill origin still matter for performance, so always check before you buy.

Bottom line: Green Supreme is a dependable, widely available pellet that delivers solid heat and reasonable ash for its price point — a reliable everyday fuel for most pellet stoves sold at Home Depot and beyond.

  1. Not good at all. Clogged burnpot and low heat output even after adjusting the draft to maximum. I measured the heat with an IR thermometer by pointing the laser onto third room air fin down from the top. Semi-scientific report below.
Stove: USSC 5502 on HR-1 Auto (Low)
    Outside Temp: 10 degrees
    Temp: 160
    Ash: Medium
    Burnpot: Clogged!

  2. I have a King stove 5500 from tractor supply, we have tried several types of pellets and these seem to burn the best, low ash and seems to be the best heat. I clean the stove once a week including vent pipe. My house is almost 2000 sq feet and was 20 below several days and only had it turned up to heat setting 3 and the house stayed 75 down stairs and about 70 upstairs. and I have VERY little insulation in attic. very pleased with these pellets. have burned just shy of 3 tons since october.

  3. This is my first year with a pellet stove, I bought a new us stove 5500 and I figured I would buy higher quality pellets since the stove I got had mixed reviews. I got 3 tons of different pellets to see which worked best in the stove. I got cubex, lacrete, and wood pellet co. They all worked good, cubex gave me the most heat but they all roughly gave me the same amount of ash and clinkers. I would clean the stove every 2-3 days or every 6-8 bags. So I needed more pellets and I tried green supreme pellets just to see how they compared to more expensive pellets and I was really surprised how well they work!! I measured the heat output of them and it gave more heat than lacrete and wood pellet co and just a little less than the cubex and it looks to make slightly less ash so far. I would recommend these pellets, maybe a cheap stove likes cheap pellets

  4. My stove – Quadra Fire Classic Bay. I used these pellets last year and they were decent. So I bought two tons of them this year and can’t help but feel I am “stuck” with them. They must have changed the formula because they give off a lot of ash and NO HEAT. My stove has always heated my whole (1750 sq ft) with no problems. I keep the thermo set at 72. With the Green Supreme, I have hard time getting above 70 degrees when it’s cold out. Will not buy again

  5. I have a Quadrafire pellet stove for 9 years. Home Depot delivered 3 tons of Green Supreme to our home. I have never had such poor quality pellets, ever. I use to be able to clean the stove about every 5 days. With these pellets, it’s daily. I must run the stove on low, or I’d probably have to clean it hourly. Today after vacuuming the stove, I left the house for 45 minutes, and when I returned, the entire house was thick with smoke. Thank God I wasn’t gone longer. The stove is off. I’m afraid to run it. I contacted Home Depot to report this potentially dangerous product, and they claim that I’m their first complaint. I’m going to advise them to read these comments. Terrible quality! Buyer beware.
