Greene Team Wood Pellets

100% Hardwood – Pennsylvania Made Premium Fuel

Greene Team Wood Pellets are produced in Pennsylvania from 100% hardwood sawdust and residuals, with no added binders or softwoods. They’re engineered for high heat output and cleaner burn characteristics thanks to dense hardwood composition and careful processing.

Typical performance from recent user tests shows ash content around 0.37%–0.42% and BTUs exceeding 8,100 per pound. These pellets are bagged in 40-lb units and distributed through regional dealers and big-box stores.

Availability: Sold primarily in the Northeast U.S., these pellets are a regional favorite when fresh. Because they come from hardwood feedstock and regional production, bag date and storage condition are especially important.

Status note: As of this season the brand remains active and listed in dealer inventories. That said, older forum comments point to batch variation, so test a bag early before committing to multiple tons.

Bottom line: If your pellet stove performs best with hardwood fuel and you want a locally-made option with clean burn performance, Greene Team Wood Pellets are a strong choice—just confirm you have a fresh bag and good local supply.

Summary

August 2019- Awaiting my bag and I must say, if there is one pellet brand to buy at Lowes or a big box, then these are them!!!  Thank Robbie! great product

August – 2017 – Looking forward to burning some this year!! I always thought these were great pellets.

Sept – 2017 – Well I have had a few cold nights with these and as usual they are a great pellets. Robbie down there in PA keeps me updated on the shipments headed to Lowes and such for purchase. He mailed me out a bag this year and I loved burning them! A great hardwood pellet! I like how dense they are and the sound they make when hitting the hopper. Thanks Robbie! Also, these were the first pellets I ever bought for my first stove back 8 years or so now! Great then and great now.

Greene Team Wood Pellets are 100% hardwood heating pellets made from freshly processed, high-density hardwood sawdust (e.g., oak, maple, locust, hickory) with no binders or softwoods. These pellets deliver high heat output (typically > 8,100 BTU/lb) with low ash content (< 1 %) and minimal fines due to triple screening before bagging. They are available in 40 lb bags and sold through independent dealers and major retailers like Green Supreme Premium Wood Pellet Fuel 40 lb. Bag-style retailers (note: this is a similar pellet listing but Greene Team pellets are distinct hardwood pellets you’ll want to source a correct product image for).

  1. Worst pellets in 16 years

If you like to clean your glass and empty your burn pot after every bag, then these are for you. The dirtiest most inefficient pellets I ever tried and they where $2 a bag more. Lowes should be ashamed to have there name on the bags.

    Pros

    • Fancy bag

    Cons

    • Lots of ash, not much heat, and enough soot to make any chimneysweep rich.

  2. What am I missing?

I ran out of my Northern Warmth Supreme Douglas Fir pellets and family member gave me 3 bags of Green Gold. I have found they have a very high ash content requiring cleaning every 60-90 minutes of accumulated ash approx 1/2″ -3/4″ in height by 2″ depth along the front of the burn pot. Need to run stove at 85 degrees to get very inconsistent temp no greater than 78 degrees. Burn rate too fast. Not for me. Family member agreed with me and mentioned they were more expensive than his usual very reliable pellets.

  3. Comparison Test Preminum and Platinum Branding

    (3)

    Hi Rob,
I have a Breckwell Big E pellet stove and did a comparison between your Preminum Plus and Platinum pellets.
Bought a ton of Preminum at Lowes and saw the Platinum pellets also sold at Lowes.
Being nearly $2.00 a bag more expensive I was wondering if indeed they were better.
My freshly cleaned stove was burning Preminum pellets before in a heat range of 120 degrees on low and 140 on medium heat setting.
Ran the pellet stove out of Premium and loaded the TWO bags of Platinum for the test.
At the end of the 2 bag test it was disappointing to see that there is virtually no difference between the Preminum and “better Platunum”, which were stated to burn hotter, at all. All heat setting were the same for both products.
Seems Green Team is falsely advertising there products.
Emailed the name on the bag for customer comments but , Rob is MIA or heard it all before, no reply
