O’Malley Wood Pellets
100% Hardwood – Premium Appalachian Fuel
O’Malley Wood Pellets are made from 100% hardwood wood fiber with no additives, and come from sawmill residuals that have never come into contact with the ground—ensuring a cleaner burn and fewer contaminants.
These pellets are bagged in 40-lb units and produced in the Mid-Atlantic region. Their hardwood composition delivers a dense burn, strong heat output and lower ash compared to many blended or softwood fuels.
Status note: The brand remains listed and available through regional dealers. However, some users report batch variation in recent seasons, so it’s wise to check bag date, inspect for excessive fines, and test a few bags before buying in bulk.
Bottom line: If your pellet stove is optimized for hardwood fuel and you’re looking for a locally-made, clean-burning option with strong performance, O’Malley Wood Pellets are a solid choice—just verify freshness and storage quality before committing.

What happened to O'Malley's Pellets
I have used O’Malley’s pellets for many years with satisfactory results. But last winter’s (2024-25) pellets were about the worse I’ve ever used. In one day of burning, the hopper would clog with “clunkers” too large to drop thru the bottom, the stove would shut down and the clunkers had to be removed or broken up manually.. The fire looks normal and the heat produced is fine. I tried another brand and had almost no “clunkers.” O’Malley, please fix this issue. I have another ton to start the 2025-2026 season and I’m concerned that they also might be junk. Something in the production process has changed from past years. BTW, we clean the hopper out every evening.

Poor Quality Pellets
I bought a ton of O’Malleys pellets last year, kept them covered and out of any weather to use during the 2024-2025 winter. They have been the worst. I have used O’Malley’s for years with typical clunkers as other brands. This whole ton has produced clunkers that I’ve had to break up before they’ll drop into the ash bin below. I doubt that I’ll buy O’Malley’s in the future unless I can’t find others locally. I’ve always had some clunkers with all brands, but nothing even close to these, even with previous O’Malleys. I empty the ashes every evening, otherwise it won’t ignite and shuts down. I have a QuadraFire stove.

HIGHLY DISAPPOINTED IN BAGS NOT BEING SEALED PROPERLY
been buying six tons per year for many years now and the bags quality just don’t get any better! Was told this year by my supplier before I ordered pellets, that the company improved the sealing of the bags. That was a big lie! I’m highly disappointed with O’Malley!
