Tractor Supply Wood Pellets

Wood Pellets at Tractor Supply Co.

Tractor Supply stocks several bagged pellet fuels for stoves, typically in 40-lb units. Below are some specific brands or labeled products you’ll find online and in-store—check your local store for availability, bag date, and batch quality.

Notable Listings

  • Green Supreme Wood Pellets – “Hardwood Wood Fuel Pellets, 40 lb” label often seen in the Northeast.
  • Soft Wood Fuel Pellets, 40 lb – Generic softwood label widely stocked.
  • US Stove Hardwood Heating Pellets – “Hardwood Heating Pellets, 40 lb” listing.

Buying Tips

  • Check bag date and condition: Because many bags are standard-stock across stores, freshness can vary. Moisture, sagging bags or faded labels may signal older stock.
  • Know your fuel type: Many bags are blend or softwood dominated—if your stove prefers hardwood pellets, be sure to inspect species info or ask staff.
  • Inspect for fines/dust: Some users report higher ash or dust in large discount bags from general-stock lines at Tractor Supply.
  • Ask about availability of “ton” or pallet buys: Some stores allow pre-buys or pallet ordering which can improve freshness and savings.

Status & Performance Summary

Tractor Supply remains an accessible retail source for pellet fuel across many regions, especially for homeowners seeking convenience or shorter supply chains. While the basic in-house bags offer value, performance may vary batch-to-batch. For top performance (very low ash, ultra-consistent burn), many pellet users still recommend testing a small quantity first before buying bulk.

Bottom line

If you’re shopping pellets at Tractor Supply, you’ll find good availability and competitive pricing. For best results though, treat it like value fuel—check bag date, inspect the condition, and if your stove is tuned for premium pellets, be prepared to test or compare a few bags from different batches.

  1. Bad to moist stick in hopper to cool to keep stove on. Bring back the Hamer or Lignetics Please

  2. Green supreme pellets- the worse pellets I have ever bought/ do not buy! Shame on you tractor supply for selling these

  3. After four winters I have burned four tons of Hammer Hots, One ton of Stove Chow, 1 ton of Wood Pellet Company (somerset PA) and six tons of Tractor Supply which are all premium hardwood pellets and have come to the conclusion – have a quality wood pellet stove (I have Harmon) – keep it clean and in good shape, keep the pellets dry while in storage and make sure the pellets you burn are meeting the National Residential Pellet Fuel Standards ( the bag will be marked) and you will not have any problems. I buy Tractor Supply Pellets as the store is close to my house so I can haul them myself, I can put my order on layaway during the summer per ton and save some money, and have the convenience of payments. Last year I had an issue with water as we had record setting rains. But I checked them as I unload them as soon as I get them. They replaced a half of ton, no questions asked. I’ll continue to buy them.

  4. their pellets burn dirty and have a stink when you go out of your house, I reported this to the company and they totally ignored me. save your money, I will not be buying any more.

  5. Kozi Previa
The Tractor Supply brand pellets burn dirty with Heavy Clumped Ash in the fire pot and heavy door glass build up
I cleaned the stove after ONE Bag. Typically I clean after 3 or 4 bags of Lignetics.
I will use my 5 bags by mixing 1/2 bag of Tractor Supply with 1 bag of Lignetics.
Home Depot & Lowes pellets are better.
I give the Tractor Supply Pellets a ONE Star rating.
