Just posting a quick fix that stopped my smoky sooty lazy fire issue with too many pellets filling up the burn pot. Not sure where to start, I took apart the augur motor to clean it out and found that the augur was a lazy fit to the augur motor. I inserted a washer to tighten up the augur rotation and re-assembled. Voila! The pellets started feeding normally and my sooty smoky lazy fire is a thing of the past – the pellets are feeding correctly and the burning is now excellent.
Bought this stove end of last winter 3/12 and only ran it a few times, this season I have been running it solid for about 2 weeks. Unit puts out outstanding heat and at this time I have not had a need to move it off the lowest settings.
Only draw backs is this model is known for exhaust and convection fan failures, and after 2 weeks of course my convection fan started going, I called customer service and a new fan was at my door in 2 days, excellent customer service. You only have a 1 year warranty on moving parts so make sure you get new fans before it expires, wink wink.
One thing I hate is it only has a 40 lb hopper and it’s a lot of work when you need a 60 lbs a day to keep your house warm. I bought a hopper extension on eBay that gives you a total capacity of 120lbs and that is awesome.. Just remember don’t tell englander you have a extension or they claim that voids warranty…
this little stove not only heats my hole house at 3 (pellet/fan speed range 1-9)it mantains it at 85 degree on a -25 degree day.1 bag a day to 1 1/2 bag.cleaning is easy ,even the monthly cleaning.
Nice stove for the money, Will eat any pellet even the long ones as it is not auger picky, Did a test and dumped a half bucket of sifted bits and dust in the beast and it munched through it no problem. A bit noisier than other stoves but Dyna-mat solves the noise if it bothers you. Can get 24 hours out of a 40 lb bag if one tweaks the low burn settings. Burn pot could use a re-design to angle pellets away from the auger to prevent hard burn by-product build up on auger tube and push ash to side clean out areas. If Englander made one I would buy it. Englander Customer Service was good.
Wonderful little stove, Heats my 1400 sqft upstairs no problem, with a minimum pellet use. Just require a daily ash dump, and quick vacuum. (2-5 minutes) and a more through cleaning once a week (10 minutes) for the price difference I’ll save the 3 grand and clean it this way, vs a Harmon that I would only need to clean once a month.
