Inferno Wood Pellets

Inferno Wood Pellets

Hardwood / Hardwood-Dominant Blend – High-Heat Fuel (Legacy Brand)

Inferno Wood Pellets were produced at a plant in Rumford, Rhode Island, using hardwood sawdust and residuals in large-volume production runs. They were marketed as a premium grade pellet fuel meant to deliver strong heat and consistent burns.

Typical performance (based on older user data): the pellets offered decent flame height but several users reported higher ash and more frequent cleanup compared to top-tier brands. Availability was strong in New England and some Mid-Atlantic markets for a time.

Status note: This brand shows limited current activity, and recent user forums suggest batch quality and manufacturer consistency declined. If you come across Inferno bags, treat them as legacy stock — check bag date, inspect for fines/ash issues and plan a test-burn before committing to multiple tons.

Bottom line: Inferno Wood Pellets may still function as heating fuel, but given their uncertain current status and past reports of variable performance, they are best approached with caution. Testing a few bags first is wise before purchasing large quantities.

We bought a house 6 years ago and it came with a pellet stove. The sellers left us several bags of Inferno pellets to use. Never having any experience with pellet stoves, we used up the Inferno pellets and then bought Inferno Gold Pellets. They worked well. As the season ended so did our pellet stock. The following seasons we bought other brands at our local store. These pellets made more ash and less heat. Over the seasons after that, we tried other brands but never stood up to Inferno. Unfortunately, no store our area carries Inferno Brand these past few seasons. At this point, we have not found a pellet that satisfies our standards, which we now know are important, quality of the pellet, minimum powder/dust in the bag, high heat, less ash, like Inferno Gold does. My search for Inferno Gold in local stores continues today.

  2. DO not buy the inferno, my bags were full of powder not Pellets
very dissapointing, I have tried to reach the company, the number is not valid or there email address

  3. I BOUGHT THESE PELLETS AT BIG Y IN NORWICH CT. I THOUGHT I WOULD TRY THEM OUT WHEN I FIRST OPENED THE BAG IT SMELLED LIKE A CATS LITTER BOX AWFUL PISSY SMELL WILL NOT BUY AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  4. In March 2016 I opened up the first bag of the ton of Inferno Gold, I purchased at Lowes in Reading Ma. I am on my 20th bag and every bag is awful, I have to clean my stove everyday. In the morning I have to shut down the stove because I have a lazy flame with a pot full of half cooked pellets. I also have the damper pulled out all the way to allow for full air flow. I will never buy these again. whatever is left in two weeks I will just burn outside in my yard at night. what a waste of money this was

  5. I usually burn Cubex and New England pellets though after reading and hearing mixed reviews I decided to try a ton of Inferno Gold. I use a heatilator cab 50 and live in Caribou Maine, the house is old and drafty and the one stove is the primary heat source. The Inferno Gold burns at a lower btu by far though it still keeps the house at 75 no problem somehow burning the least amount of pellets I have ever seen. Also I can sit in the same room as the stove without burning up unlike the Cubex and New England. So I would have to say 1 ton Inferno for me equals at least a ton and a half if not more of high end pellets with a more enjoyable heat through the whole house. Also my glass is staying cleaner the only down fall is they leave more solid remains in burn pot. So end result good bye Cubex and New England hello Inferno Gold.
