Premium Plus Data Sheet – Premium Ultra Data Sheet
Energex Wood Pellets are premium-grade hardwood heating pellets available in two varieties: Energex Premium Ultra and Energex Premium Plus. Both products are sold in 40-pound bags and are designed to provide dependable heat, low moisture and consistent performance in pellet stoves.
Energex Premium Ultra is produced from kiln-dried hardwood and carries a published maximum heat output of 8,400 BTU per pound. Energex Premium Plus is made from a blend of hardwood fibers and has a published maximum of 8,300 BTU per pound. Although Ultra is positioned as the slightly higher-heat option, the difference between the two products is relatively small.
Independent 2026 audit samples produced at the Lignetics facility in Mifflintown, Pennsylvania, delivered similar results. Premium Ultra tested at 8,073 BTU per pound, 4.66% moisture and 0.59% ash as received. Premium Plus tested at 8,025 BTU per pound, 5.32% moisture and 0.60% ash as received. The samples also showed low fines and durability ratings of 99% or better.
Both audit reports identify the tested pellets as Premium grade and show that they carried the PFI Quality Mark. These results suggest that Energex Ultra and Plus are closely matched products, with Ultra testing slightly hotter and drier in these particular samples.
Actual heat output, ash production and burn quality can vary by batch, storage conditions, stove settings and appliance design. Pellet-stove owners may want to test several bags before purchasing a full ton.
