Maeder Brothers Wood Pellets

Maeder Brothers Wood Pellets

100% Hardwood – Regional Premium Fuel

Maeder Brothers Wood Pellets are produced by a family-owned sawmill in Michigan that has been operating for over five decades. These pellets are made from kiln-dried hardwood sawdust and residuals from their lumber operation, offering a clean burn and strong performance for residential pellet stoves.

Typical performance: The 40-lb bags deliver dense hardwood fuel with less bark, improved feed rate and cleaner ash compared to many value blends. While specific BTU/ash specs vary by batch, users report solid heat output and a manageable maintenance load when the bags are fresh.

Availability: Distributed primarily in the Midwest U.S., Maeder Brothers Wood Pellets are available via regional dealers and direct purchase from the manufacturer. Because they are a hardwood-only brand with regional focus, check bag date, inventory freshness and local stock before purchasing large quantities.

Status note: While the brand is still listed and known among pellet-stove users, a number of user forum reviews call out batch variation—especially older runs with higher ash or increased fines. It’s recommended to test a few bags early in the season and inspect your pellet stove’s response.

Bottom line: If your pellet stove is tuned for hardwood fuel and you’re looking for a regional U.S. product made from genuine sawmill residuals, Maeder Brothers Wood Pellets are a strong contender—just verify you’re getting a fresh bag and confirm that your local supplier has good stock.

Probably the most ash of any pellet I’ve burned in 20 seasons! Large globs of unprocessed sawdust in each bag so far!

    Pros

    • Cheap

    Cons

    • Ashy with low heat output with LARGE globs of unprocessed sawdust in every bag so far@
