Review of Northern Warmth Douglas Fir
Aug 2017 -maybe one of the best this year. I have not burned them but I have high hopes
2018 – great hot pellet. What more to say than those west coast doug fir pellets are some of the best pellets on the market.

Hot and clean but expensive and dusty.

The only positive thing I can say about NorthernWarmth Supreme Douglas Fir is that they are fairly low ash. Other than that, they are terribly dusty, with a micro fine dust that coats the furniture, as well as too many “fines” in the bottom of the bag. Quality control is awful. Pellets run from 1/4″ long to 1 1/2 inch long. the long ones make my auger unhappy.
These came high on promise from my dealer so I paid $360 a ton. I can do a lot better by paying less for Vermonts or some of the other premium pellets.
I have been using Northen Warmth pellets purple bag for the first time this winter 2017- 2018 and I find them to be superior to any pellets I have used over a six year period, warm much less ash.

They are NOT Okies! Not even close!
The bags are full of fines and all I get is some heat but not like the Okies put out.
A bag of Okies would last a full 24 hours. I am lucky to get 16 from the NW pellets
We burned Okanagan doug firs in 13-14, 14-15 and 15-16 and loved them, apart from the fines. For the 16-17 season we burned Purcell doug firs and liked them better than the Okies because they had almost no fines, but they seemed to burn faster.
This season, we just finished off 1 ton of Northern Warmth doug fir purple bags. They seem to be clones of the okie’s including the annoying amount of fines. Our second ton starting on tonight is Northern Warmth doug firs – green bag. Apart from the color of the bags, the only other visible differences are the the purple bag has in big letters “SUPREME DOUGLAS FIR” and the green bag just says “DOUGLAS FIR” and the green bags appear to have substantially less fines – more like the Purcell brand from last year.
We burn ~4 ton per season in our 2009 Quadrafire Mt. Vernon AE insert.
Hi, has anyone found a pellet comparable with the Okanagan Douglas Fir? there are not many softwoods pellets available in Mass this year. I’d pay more for less ash and less cleanings.
