Okanagan Platinum Wood Pellets
100% Softwood – Premium Pine & Spruce Fuel
Okanagan Platinum Wood Pellets are manufactured by Okanagan using only softwood feedstock—primarily pine and spruce—without bark, additives or fillers. They’re built for performance, delivering high heat, low ash and minimal cleanup.
Typical specs: Approx. 8,200–8,900 BTUs per pound and ash content under ~0.6% (some listings show as low as ~0.4%). These pellets are available in 40-lb bags and distributed through select retailers in the U.S. and Canada.
Bottom line: If your pellet stove performs best with softwood fuel and you’re looking for a clean-burning, high-quality option, Okanagan Platinum is a solid choice. Just make sure your local dealer stocks this brand this season and check the bag date for freshness.

2018 – looking forward to burning these pellets again this year. I just put my feelers out to secure a bag of the platinums and the doug firs.

Experience with Okanagan 2019/2020
Unfortunately, bad experience with this Okanagan Platinum. At the bottom of the pallet were a good 3 or 4 bags of pure pellet dust and a couple more with mixed pellets and dust. I assume, maybe incorrectly, they are sent to the distributor on pallets and left that way to be delivered to me, the end user. I emailed Okanagan company to advise (complain?), no response that I am aware of. The good bags burn OK but a bit more ash than I expected. I have also the same amount (pallet) of the Northern Warmth Doug Fir, more expensive, but not a single bad bag in the bunch…. Hope this helps.

my review on okies
Hi, guys, going to leave a review on this okie. pellets, I live in Maine and burn about 4 tons of pellets during the winter months. I have a Mt. Vernon Quadra fire stove, so it will burn pretty much anything. First I have to say this pellets burn awesome, clean with little ash, and with minimal black or grey on the glass. I do clean my stove weekly as well. But like with any pellets you can get a bad batch or run, as to say that got three tons and the first ton burned great, hot and clean. the second ton had a order to them, almost like cat urine, wasn’t happy about that at all. they burned ok more ash and a few clinkers in ash pan. glass got black as well, third ton was back like the first ton, awesome ,,,, called the store where we bought them from and bought a bad back to show them and smell them, told me they would contact the company , and like always nothing. so had no choice to burn the pellets , sucks , like these pellets a lot , more on the costly end too , just wished the company would make it right.
