Declining quality
I’ve been using these pellets long term. The quality has decreased in 2021 and 2022. Some bags are just plain colder. All produce a lot more ash than earlier. Daily stove clean ups. Offset is they are the cheapest in central UP

Poor quality
Husband and myself have purchased these since the purchase of our pellet stove, but since our recent purchase have found them poor quality! We contacted customer service and was told they’ve recently started making them with tree bark. Bad choice!! These cause nothing but ash, leaving one to have to tend to the stove more frequently.. if left unattended, the ash pan overflows and will be sure to cause a house fire!!
The manufacturer seriously needs to reconsider their way of “lining their pockets” and go back to customer satisfaction!!!
We, ourselves will NEVER purchase this brand again!!!
Buyer beware!!!!!

What Happened?
I have used Vulcan pellets almost exclusively over the last 10 years. I could usually go close to 2 weeks without cleaning my burn pot. This year I cannot get through a bag without cleaning the burn pot, Cleaning every day 2 days max. Very Disappointed and wondering what happened?

Was good before and not anymore
Out of all the pellets we have used these were the worst. Less heat and about 5 times more ash then others even more in pipes. Most bags we buy say hardwood and these don’t. I also have many more friends say same thing. Plus I think it’s pine not hardwood

Used to be good, now not so much.
These were great pellets a couple years ago, they have since taken a downturn. Tons of ash. Constant clean-up. Mostly softwood at this point. Will not buy again.

We have 2 stoves.we have a quadrafire stove inside that we use in early fall and late spring.we also have a maxim 175 outside that we use once winter really sets in.both stoves get cleaned weekly when in use.the quadrafire has an auto cleaning mode, the Vulcan pellets burned so dirty they jammed the burning pot cleaner.these pellets leave a lot of clinkers and ash.we had to clean the outside stove more often Asa result of this problem.we bought these pellets because of there cheap price.as we all know ,you get what you pay fore.
I burned Vulcan soft wood pellets for one winter and I could not believe how much fines, ash and creosene they left. The saw dust is all over the house and the wife is maaaad. I had to clean the stove (Quadra Fire) and its glass door every 10 days. I’m done with that brand.
the pellets for 2012 are realy crap they are so made with green sawdust they areare all creosote that i had two chimney fires in the last two weeks and the furance has been cleaned along with chimney 4 times all ready this year .
