Wood Pellet Inc. was started by a lumber mill in 1992 in Pennsylvania. They actually peel the bark from the logs to sell to mushroom farmers and landscape companies. All the sawdust and ends from the trees are then ground to make the pellets. Only fresh sawdust is used. No Poplar or Basswood trees are used because this will cause a lower Btu and create more ash. This is an all hardwood and is a premium pellet that is short to med length.

I’ve been burning alot of pellet brands since 2004 and have used some of the worst to some of the best. If I had to personally rate Wood Pellet Co. (Smith Lumber) from 0 to 10 with 10 being the best, I’d honestly give them an 8.5-9.0 . There pellets burn hot and they have nearly zero fines in the bags. There mill is outside of Ebensburg, PA , if you can get them you won’t be disappointed.
I own a Harman Advance stove and have found Wood Pellets Co. to be the best for my stove. I clean my stove every two weeks during the season. The BTU’s are high and I am pleased with these pellets. I wish that our government would monitor wood pellets and I would have a better idea of which are best. I have had success with Stove Chow brand and Energex but with so many different companies of pellets and so many vendors it is impossible to rate them all. I am confident to purchase tons of Wood Pellets Co.
Have burned Wood Pellet Co. pellets for the last 3 years, and they are excellent fuel. Minimal fines and ash, heat output high and reliable. Buy them with confidence.
I have bin using wood pellet company pellets for years .I have a Harman p43 and they burn good in it.This year they were $240.00 a ton and I got 4 ton. I tried turman pellets one year and they cost more and clogged up my stove with tar goo .And I called customer support and no response ,I’m sticking with wood pellet company.
I have a breckwell insert. I won’t buy these pellets again ! I had better results with Home Depot pellets. The wood pellet company pellets do not burn hot and I spent $ 260/ ton. My breckwell has 5 settings … I would keep my stove on setting 1 with Home Depot pellets and to get the same size fire with the wood pellet company I would have to keep my stove on at least setting 2 sometimes setting 3 which means I’m sucking up alot more pellets. Never again and especially for that price!! Worst pellet and most expensive i have used so far.
I’ve been burning pellets for over 14 years using Harman XXV & P43. As far I am concerned, Wood Pellets Co (C & C Smith Lumber) pellets are a above average pellet. The pellets are a short pellet with minimal fines in the bag and has a nutty smell to them.I Would buy them again as over the years I’ve burned many brands most from Pennsylvania pellet mills and a few from other states. The most important thing about ANY pellet is to MAINTAIN your STOVE!!! $225 per ton during late spring for lowest prices….low demand low price….higher demand higher price.
Tried these pellets recently and they are above average. I tested two bags, after screening them with a 1/4″screen box. the pellets produced roughly 1/2 cup of fines. I felt that the heat output was slightly above average.
I have a US Stove co. 5500m
Burned on a 1 and 2 setting
price was $5.50/ bag or $260 a ton in North Eastern PA
i have used “Wood Pellet Co.” pellets in the past so after using “barefoot” for (2) yrs i bought (3) tons of Wood Pellet Co. this time around i a thru (1) ton and i am not pleased. ALL the bags have what looks like wood shavings in them. i have a 3 yr. old Quadra-Fire Castile.i empty the burn pot every day. after sending Wood Pellet Co. a pic. of the pellets i had to call THEM i get their opinion. they did not seem to be as concerned as i was with shavings. they also seem to create a lot more ash this time around. i will think twice before i buy these again.
