The AWP pellets are the worst pellets to have. Does not catch on fire easily.. even if I were to put any accelerate on them to catch..they do not. Don’t know what kind of processes they use to bind them..but it doesn’t catch.. it leaves clumps in the burner, which we have to constantly remove..and if not…we get a back burn..and have to shut it down..and go through the whole process of trying to get them burning again!! I’m switching to a better quality pellets.. And staying away from the AWP pellets!!
I have been using these pellets for 2 yrs now and would not us any others. I have not had any problems at all with them drawing dampness but i keep mine in a dry place when i bring them home and i also get mine from a local store who keeps them in a dry place also. They burn hotter than other pellets i had tried before them and i have a lot less ash. I believe that Lowes will store their overstock out doors and these bags are not water and air tight so it is best to buy from a store who keeps them in a dry location.
Next to American Wood Fiber, these have to be the worst pellets I have use in my stove. Plug the burn pot, Fill the ash collector after 6 bags and I have to clean the burn chamber and exchanger after every bag. Clump and hold moisture through perforated holes in bag ” as J Swartwood” stated. I have 10 bags left and may just cut my losses and avoid any damage to my stove, just burn them in a fire pit. Applachian Wood Pellets, User be-ware when buying these.
I have a new Breckwell big E stove. I clean it every 10 bags. My problem with the Applachain wood pellets, Cheat River, is that they draw moisture through the perforated holes on both side of the bags. This causes the pellets to crumble and clog up the auger. these pellets were purchased at Lowes.
the pellets burn hot from cheat river WV 26537 the problem is the sheet rock paper in the bags that have plugged up my stove 2x with only using 60 bags the sheet rock paper is 5 inches both peices they were bought at tractor supply in n.y. i would like a reply i willnot buy them again
I have an Englander stove and purchased appalacian pellet brand cheat river pellets from Lowes. They are the pitts. Some of the pellets are way too long. It messes up the feed rate of the stove and the stove shuts down for lack of pellets. Sometimes the auger jams and I most empty the bin and tear down the feed system.
