Maine Woods pellets are a blend of 65% hardwood and 35% softwood. The hardwood provides a longer burning, high heat fuel while the softwood adds extra durabilty creating a strong pellet that will not crumble.

Harman P61, I totally agree with Ingram’s post on the performance. His experience is identical to mine. Have only had the stove for two years and had great luck then but these two tons are going FAST! Lots of ash and obviously not as much heat as before. Too bad, good price but will have to do some more web search to find the next brand of pellets which will not be the Maine Woods brand.
Bought 2 tons Maine Woods Pellets from Home Depot for 2014/2015 winter and sorry that I did. Quality seems to have gone downhill from the 2 tons I bought last year. Same place, same brand. This year’s loaded with fines (1 1/2 cups per bag when I sift them), Low heat, lots of ash. Will not buy Maine Woods Pellets next time and myself and others have notified Home Depot in our area of the low quality of this year’s pellets. Although it says, “Premium” on the bag they definitely are not “Premium”.
Well, I guess that my comments regarding Maine Woods Pellets must not mean anything because never posted. What I said in my comment would definitely help out other wood pellet users decide. So, I guess my time writing the comment was wasted.
Quadrafire classic bay insert. Will never purchase these pellets again! So much dust….so – so heat, ash like I’ve never seen before. …
I burned almost two tons of Maine Woods Pellets during the winter of 2013/2014 and found them very clean, low ash, good heat. Bought another two tons from Home Depot in Ellsworth, Maine in November 2014 to burn for this winter 2014/2015. They absolutely suck compared to the previous two tons. I sift and get two cups of fines this year. After 12 hours of burn I have to shut stove down and clean a huge ash buildup. The heat output is a lot less than before. Maine Woods Pellets must have changed their mix formula to almost 100% softwood which makes them much less quality. I am going to make sure I never buy Maine Woods Pellets again and several friends of mine and I are going to try to get our local Home Depot to not carry them again. I just tried 5 bags of Fireside and hardly no fines, high heat, very minimal ash. This will be my choice from now on. Home Depot says they can get them and do have them in other stores here in Maine. Goodbye Maine Woods Pellets!
Bought a ton of Maine pellet company LLC pellets for $ 269 a ton from Bensons Lumber in Londonderry NH (delivered early, polite and easy to deal with) Dodge grain has jacked thier prices and is out of pellets often
I have a quad fire classic bay.I’ve burned for the last five years. I purchased a ton of these pellets last month ,bad heat, tons of ash ,pellets are falling apart into dust.I Will never buy these again.
I bought 4 tons of MWP pellets and I am very sorry that I did! They are the dirtiest pellets I have ever used; even the inside of the white bag is brown. Even though we screen them before taking to our stove we still get a cloud of dust when we pour them in. Also we have to clean our stove and room daily to keep up with the mess. They don’t put out the heat that the pellets we have been using for years. Unfortunately the pellets we had been using were not available in our area this year but you can be sure that I will not buy these pellets ever again.
Purchased 11/2014 in CT. Burning in Breckwell Big E. I was curious about these as I have a vacation home close to the plant in Maine and see the plant in action. I was shocked at how hot and clean they burned. Great heat. No Clinkers, low ash. Best pellet of the year so far. Just wish supplier had more of them to buy in CT. Great pellet!
I tested several brands available here in Northern Maine using a measured amount in my Harman 61P and measuring output air temp. during a full burn. Maine Woods averaged 7 – 8% higher than the others. These will be my choice for the season.
