Found foreign materials in pellets
If I could attach pictures I would. This is my first time purchasing this brand from menards. Noticed right off there are noticable bright colors in some of the pellets. Scooped a sample out and found foreign non-wood material pressed in to the pellets. Some seems to be some type of hard plastic, some type of Styrofoam and other appears to be plastic like from a bag or such. Found about half a dozen pellets like that in to handful size scoops. So either they have an issue with raw material, equipment perhaps used in the process but either way they evidently have no quality control. I only bought about 20 bags to try and random inspections in the bags I have consistently found the same thing in very bag checked.

Qc had to have been on break or something
I buy 3 tons at a time from Menards. This brand was the last pallet to pick up. First thing I noticed was water damaged pellets in the top 4 bags. I could not even put in stove. Checked the rest and looked good. Stored In dry area and bring 8-10 bags in house a week before use each time. I have never had to clean my stove this much. It needs a full cleaning 2 times a week. The ash in the pot is full to the top after 14 hours with thick clinker. The panels are covered with ash. The glass is covered in black within 3 hours of cleaning. Trim setting were changed up and down with no improvement. Now with about 16 bagsleft from this batch, I have seen “green” flames and more clinker. Cleaning out stove has yielded melted pieces of metal. I can only assume it is copper or a form of it due to green flame . In the pellets I have noticed slivers of solid wood. Menards will not return the bags I still have so I am left with using them or throwing them. I also will say the heat output is around 60% of any other brand I have used. I will never buy theses ever again.

Decent!
Burned one ton last year after a ton of easy heat. The easy heat was garbage but I really liked the Michigan fuel pellets. Almost zero fines in the bag, pellets were a bit darker than any other pellet I’ve burned. I did notice they were a bit waxier than other brands. Regardless both of my harmans ran through them just fine. Would buy again. Although my harman has never been picky with pellets.
Got them at Menards in Wisconsin for ~$225/ton

Poor pellets
Pellets are not a good pellet. I bough 5 tons and have had more trouble then ever before. I think some of the pellets have plastic mixed in them. Due to the coating on the glass and fire smolders for 2 hours after the stove has been turned off. I will never buy this brand again. And tell me friends and family not to buy these.

Something changed for the better
Tried Michigan brand 2 years ago and I was not impressed Tried them again this year and am amazed how well they burn been using them for 4 mos in my magnum countryside and no problems at all.Pellets are all uniform and very clean with very little fines left in the bag. I think the biggest problem with guys having problems with bad pellets comes down to where they are stored at after all when left outdoors in the elements they are acceptable to drawing in moisture Last year a local farm store near me Not TSC was selling wet pellets to customers. The employees were telling management that they needed to be covered better or store indoors management failed to listen and before long guys were returning tons of pellets back to the store. Some guys were so mad store was refusing to take them back because they did not have receipts they just left them in the parking lot.Needless to say nothing changed this year except they charge a dollar a bag more .
