Can the hardwood pellets be used in a food grade smoker?
Did you find this review helpful? Yes (22) No (8)
I ran out of pellets that I usually purchase from a major building supply outlet. I decided to give these a try, and couldnt be more satisfied. I can operate my stove on a lower heat setting, yet getting more heat than my old pellets. I haven’t had a hard ‘ash brick’ in my burnpot when it’s time to clean it either. Great product so far!
I have a wise way stove these pellets start off great but clump up causing a great deal of heat loss…As I say clump in small clumps causing no draft,,,,
I used canwick pellets last year and was very happy with the quality and the heat they produced. This year I purchased 100 bags and have found the pellets give off very poor heat and lots of ash. I will not be purchasing anymore of your pellets
They are OK. I find they give off pretty good heat once going, BUT I have to crank the dial on my pellet stove 25%-30% HIGHER in order to get that heat. I also find it VERY dusty when dumping the bag into the hopper. All that crap just collects at the bottom of the hopper and that’s what will clog your auger. My last bag I used I probably had at least 1 CUP of dust that I had to vacuum out. 3 out of 5 stars.

Dear Canwick,
We have been using your product for a number of years with just the occasional bad bag. However, this year every single bag smolders and smokes and builds up in the fire pot until we have to turn the stove off within a few hours ,every day.
P.S. We tried a few bags that were left from last year and they burned perfectly.
Seems your process may not be eliminating the moisture.

Are these hardwood pellets food grad and can they be used in a pellet smoker..Thank you
I have been burning wood pellets in my pellet stove for 23 years . This season is the first time I tried your hardwood pellets. I have used more than 30 bags of the 100 bags that I purchased. I find that I don’t get nearly the BTU’s from a bag of your pellets as compared to other brands I have used over the years. I find Western Canada produced pellets far superior to Can Wick pellets.
finally a pellet that heats
